There were a very limited amount of Honda Integra Type R sedans built

Don’t let the headline of this story fool you, this car is technically a Honda Integra Type R as the Acura brand is solely for the American market. However, it’s still the same car as the Integra Type R that we got here from 1997-2001, except this example is mirrored and stretched out.

That’s right, since this is a Japanese domestic car that’s been imported, it’s right-hand-drive and it has a lot of features that Honda enthusiasts would only dream about having on their cars, but we’ll get to those later.

For now, according to the description on Bring A Trailer, this 1995 Honda Integra Type R sedan is one of only 292 ever produced for the inaugural (1995) model year. And according to Torque GT, this means that it’s one of only 5,135 four-door Integra Type Rs ever made, making it almost as rare as an albino hippopotamus.

This 1995 Honda Integra Type R is powered by a Japanese Domestic Market-spec B18C engine, which is a 1.8-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder that’s factory rated at 197 hp at 8,000 rpm and 131 lb-ft of torque at 7,200 rpm. That high-revving powerplant is mated to a slick-shifting five-speed manual transmission that routes power to the front wheels via a limited-slip differential.

The exterior of the car is a painted in Championship White, just like all of the early Integra Type Rs, but what makes Japanese-spec models different is the enclosed front end with the one-piece headlights – which is a modification that us American enthusiasts pay at least a grand to do.

In the rear of the car sits a large Type R spoiler and underneath the fenders are a set of body-colored 15-inch wheels wrapped in new Yokohama Fleva rubber. Additionally, there a red Honda emblems on the front and rear bumpers as well as “Type R” badges on the sides of the car to complete the look.

Taking a look inside this rare Type example, you’ll notice that there’s a set of Recaro front seats wrapped in black microsuede and cloth with red stitching, which matches the dashboard, door panels, and floormats, which all carry the same “Type R” theme.

As far as technology goes, keep in mind that this is a 1995 model, which means that you’re lucky to get power steering and air conditioning, which it does have. It also has a Pioneer head unit and a leather-wrapped MOMO steering wheel, but don’t look for any airbags because it doesn’t have any of those.
