If you’ve decided that 2021 is the year you’re going to buy that Alfa Romeo Giulia or Stelvio, you’ll be happy to hear that they simplified the lineups. There are four new colors to choose from too for these Alfa Romeo models. Shopping for either the popular Italian four-door sedan or small crossover SUV just got easier.

What are the changes? We have all the details.

Less is more

Up to this point, there were seven different trims for both the Giulia sedan and the Stelvio SUV. For the 2021 model year, the automaker cut the trim levels back to four for each vehicle according to MotorTrend. The base model for each is now called “Sprint.”

Which trim levels were cut? Both the Sport and Ti Lusso trims were cut from the lineups. Consumers can now choose from the base Sprint or the Ti, Ti Sport, and the top-shelf Quadrifoglio.

Almost any car, SUV, or truck you shop for these days has four or more trim levels. They are different versions of the same basic vehicle with varying prices, features, and equipment. It can make shopping a frustrating, time-consuming affair.

Since trucks run the gamut from basic work trucks to full-size luxury vehicles with a truck bed, you can somewhat justify the numerous trim levels they offer. With cars and SUVs, the number of different trims forces consumers to be strategic in order to get a really good deal. Sometimes after doing all that homework you realize that the vehicle with all the features you want and need is out of your budget.

It’s refreshing to see an automaker simplify the process for consumers as Alfa Romeo has.

The 2021 Alfa Romeo Giulia

The Ti trim for either Alfa Romeo offers an 8.8-inch display for the infotainment system and a dual-pane sunroof. The Ti Sport for both gives you a standard limited-slip differential.

The Giulia Sprint, Ti, and Ti Sport all get a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that gets 280 hp. It’s paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission that’s smooth shifting. If you want a big boost in power, the Quadrifoglio might be the best choice. It has a turbocharged 2.9-liter V6 that gets 505 hp and 443 lb-ft of torque.

The Ti trim for both the Giulia and Stelvio offers a feature-oriented Lusso package that, according to Edmunds, gives you an air filtration system, extended leather trim, and wood veneers. It’s assumed the Lusso package elevates the Ti to make up for the loss of the Ti Lusso trim which was geared toward a more refined interior. There’s also a Carbon Package for the Ti Sport that gives you a carbon fiber trim and other accents.

Once you’ve selected one of the four trims, you get four new colors including Ocra GT Junior, Rosso GTA, Rosso Villa d’Este, and Verde Montreal.

The Giulia Sprint starts at $40,745. There’s an added $2,000 for all-wheel-drive on any model except for the rear-wheel-drive-only Giulia Quadrifoglio.

The 2021 Alfa Romeo Stelvio

When it comes to the Alfa Romeo compact crossover SUV, the Stelvio Ti Sport gets darkened exhaust tips for a more aggressive look. It goes nicely with the rear diffuser and 20-inch wheels. You can get 21-inch wheels optional in 2021 on both the Stelvio Ti and Ti Sport.

The Stelvio gets the same engine lineup as the Giulia. For the 2021 model year, the Stelvio starts at $43,045. All-wheel drive is standard across the SUV’s lineup. The Quadrifoglio gets an upgraded all-wheel-drive setup with an adaptive suspension and a torque-vectoring rear differential that enhances traction better manages the balance when executing corners. The top-shelf Stelvio will set you back $82,345.
