Part of the deal with EVs is charging the electric vehicle, which can take some time to get used to. Some automakers are sweetening the deal with free charging at charging stations around the country. Electrify America and EVgo are the most popular companies offering complimentary unlimited DC charging for new cars.

The electric vehicles with complimentary unlimited DC charging

The ultimate deal in charging is complimentary unlimited DC charging for new electric vehicles. This was a popular addition for cars like the Tesla Model S at first when people were still warming up to the idea. But with so many new EVs on the market, Edmunds says that plenty of automakers are offering free DC fast charging for buyers.

First up is the Audi e-tron GT. Buyers get complimentary unlimited DC charging for three years at Electrify America. The BMW i4 and iX have an interesting deal. Buyers can get unlimited DC charging for the first 30 minutes of a charging session, only for the first two years. While that is a generous offer, it seems a bit confusing. The Hyundai Ioniq 5 has the same deal.

The Hyundai Ioniq Electric and Kona Electric have complimentary unlimited DC charging for three years at Electrify America. No stipulations on that one! For the latest electric vehicle on the market, the Lucid Air offers some free charging. Lucid owners will get complimentary unlimited DC charging at Electrify America during the first three years for all vehicles reserved by June 30, 2022.

Electrify America is offering free charging for a lot of electric vehicles

For the new Mercedes-Benz EQS and EQE owners, Electrify America offers free unlimited DC charging for the first 30 minutes in a charging session. That is good for two years. The Polestar 2, Volkswagen ID.4, and Porsche Taycan have the same deal. The Taycan and ID.4 electric vehicles get three years instead of two.

The hottest new brand on the market offers the Rivian R1T and R1S electric truck and electric SUV. Rivian had to complicate this situation by offering free charging at Rivian chargers: Rivian Adventure Network and Rivian Waypoints network only. After the first year, buyers have to have an active subscription to the network. The Toyota bZ4X will have free charging from EVgo for the first year.

The Audi e-tron and Q4 e-tron get 250 kWh of free charging for two years through Electrify America chargers. Ford has jumped on the free charging bandwagon, offering 250 kWh of complimentary charging for the Ford Mustang Mach-E, F-150 Lightning, and E-Transit electric vehicles. The Kia EV6 gets 1,000 kWh of free charging from Electrify America chargers for three years.

Mazda is offering a good deal toward in stalling a home charger

Mazda is offering MX-50 buyers a $500 credit to ChargePoint charging stations. Or $500 toward purchasing a home charger, which is a great deal. Nissan chose a different route with the new Ariya electric vehicle, offering a $500 credit at EVgo for those who ordered by the end of January. Nissan Leaf EV buyers will get a $250 credit to EVgo.

Finally, those who purchase the Volvo C40 Recharge and XC40 Recharge get 250 kWh of complimentary charging from Electrify America. Volvo also includes the Electrify America Pass+ membership for a year.

These deals might not stick around forever, so jump on it if you find a good deal. Add in the federal tax credit and you have a pretty affordable new car ready to go.
