Alternatives to the Buick Regal TourX

Buick doesn’t have the most impressive vehicles in its lineup but the car brand does have a few fan-favorites. One of them is the Buick Regal TourX, which is America’s last classic station wagon. Drivers love the TourX because it’s energetic, comfortable, and spacious. It’s sad though, the most notable thing about this year’s TourX model is that it’s being discontinued entirely. Even though the TourX is going away, there are still plenty of wagon-type cars to choose from.

2020 Subaru Outback

Starting price: $26,645

The Subura Outback might be the most popular model in the wagon class. The Outback shares some similarities with the TourX, such as engine power. But, with the Outback you get more capability. It’s great for everyday trips and even a good option for off-roading  Each Outback trim level comes with all-wheel-drive and you can choose between a standard four-cylinder engine or a more powerful six-cylinder. The Outback isn’t known for its acceleration, but it is adventurous and practical.

2020 Audi Allroad

Starting price: $44,600

Audi’s Allroad is a ruggedly handsome wagon that drives like a luxury sports sedan.  The Allroad is for drivers who want precise handling but wth more luxurious comfort than the Subaru Outback provides. This model’s power comes from a 248-hp turbocharged, 2-liter four-cylinder engine. On the inside, you will enjoy a plush, quiet cabin, and easy-to-use infotainment. But for additional power and other mechanical changes, it is worth waiting for the 2021 model.

2020 Volvo V60

Starting price: $39,650

Volvo worked to bring sexy back to the wagon-style with the V60. The V60 is direct competition for the Audi Allroad. With the V60, you have the choice between the base wagon model or the Cross Country option-which is more like a crossover. There are two different powertrains for the V60: a turbocharged, 250-hp 2-liter four-cylinder engine or  316-hp version. Both choices are linked to an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Front-wheel drive comes standard but all-wheel drive is available. The V60 can be as luxurious as you want it to be by making upgrades to its already fancy-feeling cabin. But you should know that the V60’s infotainment system has been known to be a little wonky.

2020 Mini Cooper Clubman

Starting price: $30,900

The Mini Cooper Clubman is the quirkiest option on our list. This model is technically a subcompact wagon that features the same platform as the BMW X1. The Clubman is more spacious than the traditional Minis but still offers the same fun driving dynamics that the lineup is known for. What also makes the Clubman more desirable is the advanced driver-assist features that come standard.

This model comes with a lively four-cylinder turbo engine and 189 hp. Front-wheel drive also comes standard here too but all-wheel drive is available.  Keep in mind though that the additional performance enhancements can get pretty costly. Because of this, it is probably best to just keep things simple on the Clubman. Above all, the Clubman is ideal for just zipping around the city.
