Another Honda Class Action Lawsuit Related to Defective Idle Stop Engine Feature
Some Honda SUVs are involved in a new lawsuit due to the automaker overstating some features. This Honda class action lawsuit is for those who purchased shares in the parent company and lost money due to the issues. A complete list of impacted sport utility vehicles from Honda and Acura is listed below, as well as the dates for those who might have invested during the time.
Is there a class action suit against Honda?
A new press release notes that law firm Wolf Haldenstein Adler Freeman & Herz LLP has filed a new class action lawsuit against Honda for investors. This suit relates to the ongoing class action lawsuit about the flawed Idle Stop feature. Included vehicles are the 2018-2020 Honda Odyssey, 2016-2020 Honda Pilot, 2019-2020 Honda Passport, 2015-2020 Acura TLX, and 2015-2020 Acura MDX.
Another press release says allegations claim that after the vehicle’s engine shuts off temporarily, the car failed to turn the engine back on as designed. This made drivers unable to move while sometimes in traffic or on the road, putting drivers in a dangerous situation. While that issue is ongoing, this suit is for investors that might have lost money due to the matter.
Those who purchased American Depository Shares (“ADSs”) of the Honda Motor Co. stock between June 20, 2018, and September 28, 2022, might be able to join the suit. The firm says Honda knew the Idle Stop feature was problematic and did nothing to address the issue.
Investors that bought stock can join this Honda class action lawsuit
Wolf Haldenstein Adler Freeman & Herz alleges that Honda overstated the effectiveness and safeness of the Idle Stop and offered insufficient disclosure controls and procedures for product quality and safety. As a result of the ongoing issues with Honda sport utility vehicles, it left the company with a higher risk of litigation as well as financial matters. The law firm says Honda’s public statements were false and misleading, specifically in the 2019 Honda Passport Press Kit.
“As with all Honda vehicles, the 2019 Passport is designed to provide a high level of safety performance, starting with predictable and stable driving dynamics that help drivers maintain control over their vehicle in a wide variety of driving environments and circumstances, including emergency avoidance maneuvers.”
Honda
Finally, the suit alleges that Honda was aware of the issue before even marketing the Honda and Acura vehicles but failed to do anything. Honda’s ADS price dropped $0.74 per share, or 3.23%, to $22.19 per ADS on September 29, 2022.
Honda and Acura have not fixed the Idle Stop issue in some cases
Investors with “substantial losses” can join the class action lawsuit with Robbins Geller Rudman & Dowd LLP. This suit alleges that American Honda Motor Company and certain top executives violated the Securities Exchange Act of 1934.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said it opened an investigation in June 2022. On the NHTSA website, the 2019 Honda Passport still has many customer complaints about the Idle Stop issue. One complaint notes that the SUV stalled at a busy intersection and would not turn back on. Once towed to the dealership, Honda could not complete the repair due to a lack of ECU modules.
If you invested in Honda or Acura at the time, you might be able to join the class action lawsuits. Both linked press releases have information for investors to contact the appropriate law firms. If you think your Honda Pilot, Odyssey, Passport, Acura TLX, or Acura MDX is impacted by the Idle Stop issue, you can check the NHTSA website with the vehicle identification number (VIN) lookup.
