Owning Ranger Rover offers more than a vehicle; to many people, they are a versatile symbol of status and wealth. There is one downfall to the brand’s name, and it is that they aren’t notoriously reliable. Buying a Range Rover used could be a nightmare, but buying one brand new isn’t the answer, either. The latest recall doesn’t help the brand’s reputation much.

A new recall for Range Rover

A new recall was released for the 2010 and 2011 Range Rover Sport this month. In fact, as many as 22,000 vehicles are expected to be affected by the new recall, and while it isn’t terrifying or incredibly dangerous, it is still concerning. According to Land Rover, the recall affects the SUV’s rear spoiler. A failure in the adhesive used to attach the spoiler could cause the spoiler to detach while in motion, potentially striking another vehicle, a motorcyclist, or even a pedestrian.

There are a lot of important things to remember when it comes to recall work. Land Rover will be entirely responsible for the replacement or repair of the spoiler because it is under recall. That means Land Rover dealerships will be completing the servicing free of charge to current owners. Going to the dealership to have work done can be quite inconvenient for some people, especially if you don’t live near a dealership or authorized recall location for the brand, but it is free of charge.

A bigger issue for Land Rover

The issue at hand really has little to do with what the recall is itself and more to do with the fact that there is any recall at all. While Land Rover is putting their best foot forward to resolve the issue as quickly and efficiently as possible, it just gives consumers one more reason to think that Range Rovers aren’t reliable, which is pretty disappointing because they are incredibly capable and otherwise well-rounded SUVs.

Despite the tarnished reputation, many owners continue to love their Range Rover Sport SUVs and other vehicles from the brand. While they may not have the best reputation for reliability out there, there is still a lot going for these versatile cars.
