Finally, the Honda E is coming to America. We didn’t think it would come across the pond, but now we should see a few come stateside toward the end of 2020. This is, of course, if COVID 19 doesn’t cause any delays. Are you excited? Well, let’s look at the Honda E’s specs to determine if you should be or not. 

A Look At The Honda E 

At first glance, the Honda E looks like the Mini Cooper EV and Fiat 500 EV had a forbidden lovechild. It has a square, boxy design with slight curves to improve the aerodynamics and round headlights near the grille. It’s pretty cute, but not at all what we expected a little Honda electric vehicle to look like. 

The Honda E currently starts around $31k, so it’s reasonably priced against the other little electric cars that it competes against. For example, the Fiat 500 EV begins around $33k. 

Honda E Power 

The Honda E only has a 35.5 kWh battery, limiting its range to only 137 miles per charge. This makes the Honda E on par with options such as the Kia Soul EV, but behind the Nissan Leaf, which gets up to 226 miles on a single charge. 

Due to the Honda E’s limited range, it’s being marketed as an around-town vehicle instead of a highway adventurer. 

Which is fine, because its ample amount of power and compact size makes it an excellent option for wheeling around town. 

The Electric motor delivers 152 horsepower and 232 foot-pounds of torque, so it should be able to send you flying once you accelerate. 

However, the Honda E weighs in at 3,400 lb, making it cumbersome for the amount of power it can generate. It takes the Honda E a lengthy 9.4 seconds to go from 0 to 62 mph. 

This is competitive with other lower-priced electric vehicles, but far behind the Mustang Mach-E that can go from 0 to 60 mph in only 3 seconds. 

The Honda E supports chargers up to 75 kW, and with a fast DC, charger can be charged up to 80% in as little as 30 minutes. With this fast charging time, you can plug it in, head into a store for thirty minutes, and be ready to go! 

Honda E Features 

The Honda E was created to provide a futuristic feel, which is why the dashboard included two large 12” screens that serve as the infotainment center. Also, instead of mirrors, the E has two 6” mirrors. 

You also get to use the Honda Personal Assistant to enhance your ride with voice command. Simply say, “Okay Honda,” to see restaurants nearby, get directions, and more. 

The Honda+ service app also provides drivers with a variety of control right from the palm of their hands. By using your smartphone, you can unlock the Honda E’s doors, take advantage of location services, climate control, and more. 

While the Honda E currently has limited power and a small range, it’s digital interior is keeping interest alive. This could be a great little whip to fly around the city in, or it may be best for future updates and improvements to be made.
