No windshield, no top, no problem. This Aston Martin 2021 V12 Speedster is the work of Aston’s “Q by Aston Martin.” It is the customizing arm of Aston for “very discerning, enthusiastic  customers.” You’ll want to get yours at the rock bottom price of $950,000. Deliveries start in 2021. Only 88 will be produced. 

This special-edition follows the Speedster mania we just saw with the Bentley Mulliner Bacalar that debuted yesterday. However, this Speedster goes a step farther with the elimination of any windshield protection as with the McLaren Elva. 

Aston Martin took a production Vantage and hacked off the roof and windshield

Aston took a production Vantage, sliced the roof and windshield off, then fashioned the body around what was left. The headrests tie in nicely with the rear of the car. You get the competition vibe from those and the roll bars that flair into them.

A unique bonded aluminum platform was created using elements from both Aston’s DBS Superleggera and Vantage models. It’s taken the best pieces to create what it is calling a “true driver’s car.” The construction took a full year to complete. You can see the 2013 Aston Martin CC100 Speedster concept cues in this newest Speedster. 

The Speedster has adaptive dampers with Sport, Sport+, and Track modes

Independent double-wishbone front suspension, multi-link rear suspension with coil springs are the basics. Adaptive dampers with Sport, Sport+, and Track modes provide the right feel and grip, with 21-inch forged center-lock alloy wheels rolling out the bling. Carbon ceramic disc brakes at 410 mm front and 360 mm rear stops the Speedster quickly. Most of the chassis and body are created in carbon fiber. 

The highlight of the car beside the unique styling is the V12 engine. It is a 5.2-liter twin-turbo setup with 700 hp and 555 lb-ft of torque. If you’ve been waiting for the V12 to land in a Vantage model since its debut in 2017 wait no longer. In fact, we expect now that the Speedster has been revealed a production V12 Vantage should be in the works as you read this. 

This is the first V12 offered in this generation of Vantage

An eight-speed automatic transmission transfers power to the limited-slip differential. Aston says 0-62 mph is in 3.5 seconds, and the top speed is 182 mph. The exhaust is dumped through the stainless steel exhaust system. It’s worth noting that this is the first V12 offered in this generation of Vantage variant. 

Aston describes the interior as a combination of exotic materials like structural satin carbon fiber, hand-crafted saddle leather, chrome, aluminum, and 3D-printed rubber. The seating was bisected by a console running through the middle. There’s no glovebox, but instead, Aston includes a leather bag plus added storage behind the roll bars under the head bumps.

Aviation cues come from the F/A 18 fighter jets

With this premier Speedster, the factory took a nod from aviation. Cues from the F/A 18 fighter jet were used for inspiration on finishes. The paint is Skyfall Silver with satin black exhaust tips. The vent grilles and vanes are also finished in satin black. Your own Speedster can be ordered in this configuration if you so desire.
