Audi Plug-In Hybrids Get Longer Range Battery and Four Drive Modes
The world of plug-in hybrids and fully electric cars has evolved rapidly, and as they become more affordable and available, consumers are becoming more and more tempted to make the switch. While some drivers might be a tad intimidated by the idea of having an electric car or plug-in hybrid, already trusted brands like Audi are working tirelessly to continue improving their current technology to make it an even better option for many drivers. With a new, more powerful battery that will last longer than ever before and the addition of a fourth drive mode, these Audi plug-in hybrids are only getting better.
A great upgrade for popular models
Popular Audi plug-in hybrid options like the Q5, A6, and A7 Sportback will be receiving well-needed upgrades to crucial electric components like the battery. This includes a newly equipped 17.9kWh lithium-ion battery to increase each vehicle’s range by as much as 91 kilometers. This is a big deal because it will change nothing about the car except to make it more fuel-efficient and provide owners with a longer range.
The future is now
Decades ago, we had only imagined a future where electric and hybrid vehicles were available, but few of us really understood the extent to which we would have them available by now. With companies producing new options to phase out the standard combustion engine, they also continue to improve upon that technology to provide owners the best experience possible.
The fourth drive mode
Along with the upgraded battery, each of these cars will also be receiving the option of four different drive modes for owners to switch between at their leisure. The three modes that are already available, “EV”, “Auto” and “Hold” will now be accompanied by a fourth mode, “Charge” which, if the name doesn’t make it clear enough, allows the battery to be charged by the standard combustion engine when necessary.
The change to a longer-range battery and option for a fourth driving mode may not seem like a big deal to some combustion engine owners, but electric car and hybrid car owners know how much of a difference that upgrades in range can really be, and with the option to charge while driving, these Audi vehicles will be better than ever.
