The Audi R8 V10 Quattro has been one of the most revered supercars for the past decade and, unfortunately, it’s being discontinued in the brand’s U.S. lineup. The V10 model was first introduced in 2009 following the early success of the Audi R8 with the V8 engine. It was also known as the “Iron Man car” due to its appearance in the famous movie. However, after a decade-long stint of being one of the most coveted cars in the market, the Audi R8 V10 Quattro is on its way out. But Audi is choosing to see it off in the best way it knows how.

The Audi R8 V10 Limited Edition

It’s hard to retire a well-known nameplate and do it justice at the same time. As such, instead of just simply discontinuing the R8 V10 out of nowhere, Audi is releasing a limited-edition run of the car in an attempt to give some lucky buyers a chance to own a piece of Audi history. And by limited, we mean that only 30 total units will be produced. And while we can expect the same engine and transmission setup in this last foray of the R8 V10 Quattro, Audi gave this unique iteration a few features to call its own.

The limited-edition model will have some of the suspension and performance additions that were only previously offered on the performance-variants of the R8. Some of the most notable parts include a front carbon-fiber sway bar, a sport exhaust system, and a carbon exterior package, which includes the carbon sigma side blades, carbon lower trim, and a carbon-fiber adorned engine bay.

This limited-edition R8 will have the same great formula, but in different flavors

Every limited-edition Audi R8 V10 car will have the venerable, Lamborghini-derived 5.2-liter V10 that pushes out 562 horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque, however, they will also carry some unique styling cues as well. The special R8 V10s will be offered with exclusive paint colors, although, it limited amounts. Only 15 of the cars will be painted in Mugello Blue, five of the others will be painted in silver with a black interior, and another five will be painted in Sonoma Green and have a black interior with silver stitching. The remaining five R8s will be Spyder versions painted in Mugello Blue with a Pastel Silver interior.

According to Audi, each car will be fitted with a set of 20-inch, milled wheels finished in silver “for the first time on an R8 in the U.S.” They definitely pulled out some of the stops for this special version of a special car. It even comes with red brake calipers. And if you find yourself as being one of the lucky prospective buyers that can afford to buy one of these limited-edition R8 V10s, then just take note that the Coupes will be retailing for $186,000, while the five Spyder models will retail for $195,900.

The rear-drive R8 could fill the gap

This might not be the last we see of the Audi R8, though, as Autoblog recently reported that the EPA’s fuel economy site now lists the rear-drive R8 coupe and Spyder, which could fill the gap that the Quattro version is leaving.
