Avengers: Black Widow’s Electric Harley-Davidson Will Finally Be Available to Buy This Year
When Scarlett Johansson zipped through the streets in Avengers: Age of Ultron with her futuristic looking motorcycle, audiences were amazed. Fans from around the world, some of whom have never ridden on a motorcycle before, wanted one. Now, Harley-Davidson is finally producing that bike for anyone who wants to buy one – the Harley-Davidson LiveWire.
5 years in limbo
After showing up in Avengers: Age of Ultron in 2015, it became clear that Harley-Davidson was going to be manufacturing Black Widow’s bike for regular people to ride on. However, the years came and went, and Harley-Davidson released little info about its whereabouts. Now, though, in 2020, Harley-Davidson is ready to sell Black Widow’s bike to anyone who can afford it.
As Digital Trends said, this bike is called the Harley-Davidson LiveWire, and it’s a very advanced all-electric motorcycle. It, like a Tesla, even has a digital display that’ll show you all the info that you need to know.
That said, just like a Tesla, it’s a very expensive motorcycle. That’s a result of Harley-Davidson equipping the LiveWire with all the fancy and high-tech stuff. Digital Trends says that the Harley-Davidson Livewire will start at about $30,000, which means that the LiveWire will cost as much as some luxury SUVs. But, for that price tag, Harley-Davidson has a lot to offer.
How the LiveWire performs
According to Digital Trends, the Harley-Davidson LiveWire comes equipped with a unique electric motor called “Revelation,” which generates 105 hp and 86 lb-ft of torque. Revelation is supported by a 15.5 kWh battery, which gives the LiveWire a range of about 146 miles. When it comes to recharging, Digital Trends says that a regular household 120V outlet will give you 13 miles of range per hour while a charging station will get you 116 miles of range in 40 minutes.
This range is not good for a bike, and it’s one of the big flaws with the Harley-Davidson Livewire. The other big flaw is, of course, its price tag, which is simply an extravagant expense for a motorcycle. But, with that said, the Revelation electric motor was a real revelation for Digital Trends.
Despite being as heavy as any other Harley-Davidson bike, Digital Trends was impressed by the LiveWire’s acceleration. This is a result of how electric motors work, which provide instant torque. Digital Trends says that the Harley-Davidson LiveWire can accelerate from 0 to 60 MPH in 3 seconds. Not only that, but if you want to accelerate 10 MPH on the road, it’s a really easy thing to do compared to a regular bike.
The Harley-Davidson LiveWire magic
Overall, Digital Trends was extremely impressed by the LiveWire, with the test driver going so far as saying that he was wrong about the bike. Like Digital Trends said, there’s a saying that “loud pipes save lives,” a reference to EVs being too quiet and thus, causing accidents. However, Digital Trends refuted that argument as the LiveWire does have its own running sound.
But the most interesting thing about the LiveWire, according to Digital Trends, was how it feels. Digital Trends says that on a regular bike, when you’re turning a corner perfectly, it almost feels like you’re not riding on a bike but rather, you’re flying through the air. This feeling lasts as long as the corner lasts, which is to say, not long.
However, with the LiveWire, Digital Trends says that you feel that way all the time. It’s simply a unique feeling that only the LiveWire is offering right now. And, on top of that, because it’s electric, it’s also even more fuel-efficient than a normal bike. It remains to be seen if the Harley-Davidson LiveWire will be a success, but Digital Trends definitely likes it.
