If you’re looking to buy new, make sure you do your research first. The vehicle of your dream might just be in for a refresh that is worth waiting a few months for. The changes might not be huge, but it might be worth the wait. That’s the case for the Chevy Traverse.

It’s due to be refreshed in 2022, and anyone looking to buy the Traverse might want to hold off. So what are the changes? And is the price going to go up?

The 2021 Chevy Traverse hasn’t had any major updates

The 2021 Chevy Traverse hasn’t been changed much. It’s pretty much the same as the 2020 model, so if you’re looking for a new vehicle, you might be able to find a 2020 model for a cheaper price.

That being said, there are a few minor updates. According to MotorTrend, “Chevy Safety Assist replaces the previous Driver Confidence II package. The bundle—which includes automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, and other features—is standard on RS, Premier, and High Country, and available on LT.”

That’s all good and well, but before you rush off to the dealership to get a 2021 model, there are some more major updates to the 2022 model that might intrigue you. It might not change your mind, but it’s worth taking note of.

The 2022 Chevy Traverse is getting some great new updates

REVERSE: Why Would You Buy a Chevy Traverse Instead of a Kia Telluride?

There aren’t a lot of details about what’s coming out on the 2022 model, including how much it will cost, but we have dug up a few interesting details. The most obvious changes to the 2022 model will the exterior. According to GM Authority, the front and rear fascias are going to be updated. How so is unclear.

The cockpit is getting some changes as well as some extra USB ports. There will also be some new exterior colors, which should prove to be exciting for anyone looking for something new to cruise around town in.

One of the biggest new changes we’ve been able to dig up is some news about the latest trim level to be added to the 2022 Chevy Traverse. The Midnight Edition will now be available. It’s all black, both inside and out, and many Traverse fans couldn’t be more excited.

The Midnight Edition has gotten Chevy a lot of positive attention since it was introduced on other Chevy vehicles. That alone may be worth waiting for.

Should you wait?

There are many reasons to wait, but that really depends on you. Do you actually care that the front and rear fascias have been tweaked? Do the extra USB ports actually matter, or is your back going to be filled with work goods? These are all valid questions to ask.

Even if those features don’t matter, they’re nice to have. You might not care about whether you have USB ports in the back, but if you take off on a road trip, and you have passengers in the rear seats, they probably will care.

On the other hand, there’s nothing wrong with the 2021 Chevy Traverse. In fact, it’s gotten rave reviews from U.S. News. If you need a vehicle now and can’t wait, then the 2021 model is a solid choice.

No matter which model year you decide to go with, the Chevy Traverse is a good SUV. It’s perfect for families and will probably last you for years to come.
