We aren’t saying that you shouldn’t buy a 2022 Kia Telluride. In fact, it’s an excellent SUV. But that’s part of the problem. Due to high demand and limited supplies, the Kia Telluride is priced incredibly high. You could save thousands by waiting a little longer.

Is the 2022 Kia Telluride overpriced?

This is a loaded question, and the answer depends on location. The 2022 Kia Telluride has an MSRP of $33,090. This is great for its class! But this price doesn’t include the destination fees or dealership markups.

According to Everyman Driver, prices on new vehicles are just too high due to the ongoing semiconductor chip shortage. The cost of new and used vehicles is out of control. The average price for a new vehicle right now is $45,000.

Even though the Kia Telluride is mentioned as a favorite option, it might be best to wait a little bit. The Telluride is currently being sold with an average of $8,000 over MSRP. The average transaction cost is $47,730. This is 20 percent above the MSRP for the EX model with all-wheel drive.

Is the 2022 Telluride worth buying?

The 2022 Kia Telluride is an excellent SUV to consider. When the prices and inventory are at an average level, it’s actually an economical option that doesn’t skimp out on value. It’s one highly awarded family SUV.

It comes with a standard 3.8-liter V6 engine that cranks out 291 hp and 262 lb-ft of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 7.5 seconds, which is on par with rivals such as the Honda Pilot and Hyundai Palisade.

The brakes are confident and easy to control, and there is limited body roll around curves. Plus, the Kia Telluride is pretty smooth over most surfaces and features a quiet interior. Although, you do hear the engine at times.

When properly equipped, the Kia Telluride can tow up to 5,000 lbs and carry a payload capacity of up to 1,565 lbs. It has a ground clearance of 8.0 inches and is available with all-wheel drive. It can handle inclement weather and slippery conditions, but we wouldn’t recommend it for off-roading.

The 2022 Kia Telluride didn’t receive a lot of updates. It’s primarily a carryover model. However, it did get the new Kia logo on the hood, liftgate, and steering wheel.

Also, the lower trims gained new standard features. A 10.3-inch touchscreen replaced the 8.0-inch unit and includes fully automatic temperature control. Each model now comes with semi-autonomous adaptive cruise control too. The system uses navigation to actively adjust the Telluride’s speed while going into and out of corners.

The interior is crafted with high-quality materials for an upscale and comfortable experience. There is plenty of passenger space in each row, and captain’s chairs are available. You can opt for heated and ventilated seats as well as Nappa leather upholstery.

Standard safety features include forward-collision warning, automated emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and blind-spot monitoring.

So, typically the Kia Telluride is a great deal. It’s a comfortable, spacious, and engaging vehicle for daily drives and family trips. However, the prices are incredibly high right now. They may return to normal as more chips become available.
