If you’re shopping for a full-sized pickup, chances are you’re considering the Chevy Silverado. After all, it’s available with a diesel engine and boasts a towing capacity of up to 13,300-pounds. All in all, that’s pretty hard to argue with. Unfortunately, the Chevy Silverado does have some problems to contend with. It’s not all that reliable and, according to Car and Driver, its interior feels fairly cheap. Fortunately, there are several Chevy Silverado alternatives worth your attention.

The Ram 1500 is a refined alternative to the Chevy Silverado

Pickups aren’t exactly known for their lavish interiors. That is, unless, we’re talking about the Ram 1500. Don’t just take our word for it. According to Car and Driver, when it comes to this year’s new Ram 1500, its “luxury-grade interior and cushy ride quality, easily exceeds even the fanciest versions of the Chevy Silverado 1500.” From its “supremely functional cubby stowage” to upscale features like premium leather seating and authentic wood accents, there’s really no denying that the Ram 1500 is a refined alternative to the Chevy Silverado.

A refined interior isn’t the only reason to consider the Ram 1500 as an alternative to the Chevy Silverado, either. According to Consumer Reports, the Ram 1500 also did better in road tests than this year’s Silverado. While the Ram 1500 earned an 83 overall score, Consumer Reports gave the Silverado a 78 overall score in its road tests.

The Ford F-150 is a powerful alternative to the Chevy Silverado

Say you’re in the market for a pickup that’s able to tow a serious amount of weight. If that’s the case, you’re going to avoid the Chevy Silverado and choose the Ford F-150. Boasting a best-in-class maximum towing capacity of 14,000-pounds, this year’s new Ford F-150 makes for the perfect choice if you’re looking for a powerful alternative to the Chevy Silverado.

The Ford F-150 has more to offer than additional towing power too. Unlike the Chevy Silverado, this year’s new Ford F-150 is also available with sought-after features like an onboard generator, interior work surface, and a tailgate work surface. These features and more make it not just a powerful pickup but a productive one as well.

The Toyota Tundra is a reliable alternative to the Chevy Silverado

Remember when we mentioned that the Chevy Silverado struggles with reliability? It’s true. According to Consumer Reports, reliability has been a struggle for the Chevy Silverado for kind of a long time too. In fact, since 2019, the Chevy Silverado hasn’t earned more than a one out of five reliability rating from Consumer Reports.

For a reliable alternative to the Chevy Silverado, consider the Toyota Tundra. Unlike the Silverado, this year’s new Tundra earned a four out of five predicted reliability rating from Consumer Reports. And if you’d prefer to be a used pickup? Both the 2019 and the 2020 Tundra earned a five out of five reliability rating from Consumer Reports.

Don’t settle when shopping for a new pickup

Shopping for a new pickup can be overwhelming. But don’t let that feeling force you into settling for a pickup that isn’t the right fit for you. That’s why, before considering any of these pickups as an alternative to the Chevy Silverado, we recommend taking each out for a test drive. After all, that is the best way to find out whether or not a certain model is the right choice for you.
