Avoid The Nissan Kicks For The More Capable Ford EcoSport Instead
There are little SUVs like the Nissan Kicks and Ford EcoSport that provide tremendous savings. However, it can be challenging to decide between the two. The Nissan Kicks VS The Ford EcoSport
The Nissan Kicks comes in hot with the low base model price around $18k. The Ford EcoSport is a bit more expensive and starts around $19k. The Nissan Kicks has three trim options that raise the price to $21k, but the Ford EcoSport has seven trim levels with the most expensive option topping out around $27k.
If you want an excellent fuel economy, the Nissan Kicks gets up to 31 mpg in the city and 36 mpg on the highway. Surprisingly, the Ford EcoSport only gets 27 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway. With Eco in its name, you think it would have a better fuel economy.
Nissan Kicks And Ford EcoSport Performance
Only one engine option comes with the Nissan Kicks, and it’s a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine that pumps out 122 horsepower and 114 lb-ft of torque. It isn’t built for towing at all. Also, it has a lackluster acceleration and takes 9.6 seconds to go from 0 to 60 mph.
The Ford EcoSport has two engine options. The base option is a 1.3-liter three-cylinder turbocharged engine that offers 123 horsepower and 125 lb-ft of torque. You can also upgrade to the 2.0 four-cylinder engine for 166 horsepower and 149 lb-ft of torque.
Apparently, the EcoSport can tow between 1,500 to 2,000 lb, but we wouldn’t push it. It’s 3,000 lb curb weight already strains the powertrain. It already takes 10.7 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph, so why slow it down more?
The Nissan Kicks is not offered in all-wheel-drive, so this isn’t the best option if you have to drive through snow. However, the Ford EcoSport offers AWD and true 4×4 capability, enabling it to handle snow and other slick conditions. But you will have to pay to add either option on.

The Ford EcoSport boosts the capability to go anywhere with features like hill start assist. It also has an available fine-tuned sport suspension to make cornering and handling a little more fun. Meanwhile, the Nissan Kicks brags about agile handling and dynamic driver technologies to assist with corning for a fun ride downtown.
Nissan Kicks And Ford EcoSport Features
The Ford EcoSport has a rear swing gate that opens to the side, making it easier to load up. It has 50.3 cubic feet of cargo space in the rear and up to 50.3 cubic feet of cargo space. The Nissan Kicks is a lot smaller, with 25.3 cubic feet of cargo room in the back and only 32.3 cubic feet of cargo space total.
Both of these little SUVs have LCD touch screens that can connect to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. However, the EcoSport has a built-in Wi-fi hotspot, a MyKey system to help teens drive safer, and more. There is no reason to go with the Nissan Kicks unless you want a little more savings. The Ford EcoSport is smart, more capable, and more powerful. It’s the clear winner.
