But it’s not worth saving a few thousand bucks compared to the upcoming 2021 Nissan Rogue. You’ll be wishing you weren’t tied down by the lemon that is the 2019 Nissan Rogue Sport.
Is the Nissan Rogue Sport A Good SUV?
The Nissan Rogue Sport is simply a smaller version of the Nissan Rogue, and the 2019 model currently starts around $22k. Meanwhile, the 2020 Nissan Rogue starts around $25k, and the 2020 Nissan Rogue Sport begins around $23k. Prices for the 2021 models haven’t been released, but they’re expected to be more than $22k.
However, the 2019 Nissan Rogue Sport has a pretty solid fuel economy. It gets up to 25 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway. Newer models of the Rogue only have a slightly better fuel economy with the ability to get up to 33 mpg on the highway.
2019 Nissan Rogue Sport Performance
The 2019 Nissan Rogue Sport comes with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that offers 141 horsepower and 147 lb-ft of torque. It can tow 1,100 lb, so you can haul smaller trailers, but don’t push it.
It takes the Nissan Rogue Sport a staggering 10 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph, so it can’t pass people quickly on the highway. Also, it may struggle to pull out into traffic quickly. Despite coming with optional AWD, the Nissan Rogue Sport is a city SUV.

The 2019 Nissan Rogue will handle slippery conditions as it begins to sleet or snow, but we wouldn’t feel confident in it as the snow starts to accumulate. As Kelly Blue Book mentions, the Nissan Rogue Sport isn’t equipped for off-roading like a Subaru or Jeep Renegade.
2019 Nissan Rogue Sport Features
The 2019 Nissan Rogue is praised for having an abundant amount of cargo space. It does have up to 22.9 cubic feet in the rear, with up to 61.1 cubic feet of cargo space total. However, that could be the best interior feature.
While the lightweight Nissan Rogue Sport is supposed to offer a fun ride, the seats are noted for being uncomfortable, and there are complaints about the cab being incredibly loud. According to reviews, it’s deafening at highway speeds.
On a positive note, the 2019 Nissan Rogue Sport has adequate technology. It can connect to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, but there is only one USB port available to charge devices. Cruise control and rear door alerts are two more tech features worth mentioning, but that’s about all the Rogue Sport has to offer.
Also, the 2019 Nissan Rogue Sport is just OK in terms of safety. It received four out of five stars in most crash test areas. Standard safety features include lane-keeping assistance, rear cross-traffic alert, and automatic emergency braking.
If you want distracting driver warnings, pedestrian detection, or road sign recognition, consider a different vehicle. The 2019 Rouge is still overpriced with its lackluster acceleration, lack of comfort, and weak capabilities.
