The Toyota Camry is the number one selling midsize sedan in America and it’s no wonder that Americans love it. With distinct exterior and interior styling, excellent fuel economy, and renowned build quality, the Camry is an easy pick among others in its class.

However, the Honda Accord has long been a fan favorite and has some attributes that prove that it is a better buy than the Camry. Here is why you should avoid the Camry and buy a Honda Accord instead.

Seat comfort

Sure, this is an odd one, and it’s technically subjective but just hear us out. Both cars have ample seating room in the front and rear seats and they both come standard with cloth seating surfaces.

However, when opting for the higher trim level in the Accord, you’ll get the luxurious amenities like power-adjustable heated front seats with ventilation, heated rear seats, and real leather. On the other hand, the Camry can only be upgraded with synthetic leather, which is technically a downgrade considering the price you pay for it.

Cargo volume

If you’re looking for more space to put your junk in the trunk, then the Honda Accord is the better way to go as its trunk space measures in at 16.7 cubic feet.

By comparison, the Toyota Camry’s trunk measures at a smaller 15.1 cubic feet, and for some reason, the base Camry L trim level’s trunk is one cubic foot smaller at 14.1.

Interior quality

Don’t get us wrong, the interior quality between both of the cars it’s top-notch when it comes to the fit and finish. However, the overall layout of the Honda Accord is much more user friendly and looks more sophisticated and Acura-like.

The Toyota Camry’s interior is nice, and we like the redesign, however, it’s almost as it’s trying to look more “hip” than it actually is. Like an 80-year old that wears Jordans.

Pricing

The Toyota Camry has a starting base price of $24,445 while the Honda Accord LX starts at $23,870. When you move up to the higher trim levels, the pricing structure between the two cars does become vastly different, however, the Honda Accord is value packaged in a much better way.

Driving dynamics

The Toyota Camry is available with a 3.5-liter V6 engine that produces 301 horsepower and 267 lb-ft of torque while the Accord’s top engine is a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder that produces 252 and 273, respectively.

Having more torque is important when it comes to daily driving, as the Business Insider found out. In their comprehensive comparison between the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord, they found out that the Accord’s driving dynamics were much smoother and the car was more fun to drive overall.

A tough decision

Despite their differences, there are many arguments that can be made in going with either the Honda Accord or the Toyota Camry. They have both been redesigned recently and now bring a lot to the mid-size sedan table, so it’s really up to the buyer to decide which one works best for them.

However, if we were to choose between the two, we would say that the Honda Accord offers a great overall value in a much more sophisticated package, which is why it’s better than the Toyota Camry.
