Awesome Utility Features of the Rivian R1T Electric Truck That Will Knock Your Socks Off
In advance of the upcoming release of the R1T, Rivian made the electric pickup truck available to the media to review. By most accounts, the R1T is an incredible pickup truck. It boasts exceptional on-road performance and off-road driving capabilities. The Rivian R1T also has many unique utility features that make it stand out even more from other trucks like the Ford F-150. Check out these awesome features.
What utility features does the Rivian R1T have?
Due to its unique electric vehicle platform, the R1T offers features that you may not find in conventional trucks, as described by Autoblog. The Rivian R1T capitalizes on the advantages of its EV design with many useful and unique utility features. This includes:
- Onboard air compressor
- Gear tunnel
- Built-in flashlight
- Frunk
- Key fob carabiner
- Bluetooth portable speaker
- Under-bed spare tire or storage area
Onboard air compressor
The onboard air compressor in the Rivian R1T is a great utility feature to have, for you’ll never have to make a trip to an auto mechanic or gas station to inflate the tires. The onboard air compressor also allows flexibility for different driving conditions. Inflate the tires to a higher PSI for on-road driving or deflate them to a lower PSI for off-road excursions.
Gear tunnel
The gear tunnel in the R1T is a long storage area that runs between the bed and cab of the R1T. You can access the gear tunnel from either side of the truck. It’s useful for when you need to store long items that you can’t fit in the bed or elsewhere in the truck.
Built-in flashlight
While some cars, like the Volkswagen Passat and some Rolls Royce models, have an umbrella case, this may be the first time that a pickup truck has a built-in flashlight. Just grab the integrated flashlight from the door of the R1T, and you’ll be illuminated and on your way.
Frunk
One of the advantages of not having a large gasoline-powered engine under the hood is the available space. Rivian made full use of this space by creating a frunk for the R1T. While many rear- or mid-engine sports cars have a frunk, it’s not something you expect to see for a pickup truck. The frunk in the R1T is weatherproof and offers 11 cu-ft of storage.
Key fob carabiner
Rivan targets outdoor enthusiasts and adventurers as the primary buyers of the R1T. The automaker especially targets them with its unique key fob, which is shaped like a carabiner. You’ll probably not want to use the key fob carabiner for actual rock climbing, though.
Portable Bluetooth speaker
The Rivian R1T has a portable Bluetooth speaker. It’s great for when you go camping and want some musical entertainment. When not in use, the portable speaker, which weighs five pounds, stows and charges at the truck’s center console. You can also charge the portable speaker with an external USB Type-C port.
Under-bed spare tire or storage area
It’s never a pleasant experience to have to climb under the tailgate of a truck to access the spare tire. Rivian created an easier solution with the under-bed spare time. Also, if you leave the spare tire behind, then you can use this area for storage.
With its exceptional performance and the first EV truck to make it to customers, the Rivian proves that it is a force to be reckoned with. All of these unique utility features make the R1T an even more appealing choice for pickup truck shoppers.
