Ford loves to remind us that the F-150 is America’s favorite truck. One of the reasons the Ford F-150 sees such impressive sales numbers is its popularity as a fleet truck. Ford offers work-ready F-150s at some of the lowest full-size truck prices around. Here are all the base trim levels of the 2022 Ford F-150: the XL, XLT, and Lariat.

2022 Ford F-150 XL ($29,990)

The F-150 XL is a budget-friendly work truck. That said, Ford makes a lot of technologies standard on its entry-level F-150.

One of the most eye-catching things about the F-150 XL is its sub-$30k price. The cheapest 2022 Silverado costs $31,500 and the only sub-$30K ram is a rebadged fourth-generation Ram 1500 sold as the Ram Classic.

$29,990 gets you a 2WD, two-door, F-150 XL with Ford’s 3.3-liter V6 engine. This engine’s maximum towing capacity is 7,700 pounds. Upgrading to 4WD, a four-door, or a V8 will bump the truck’s price well above $30k.

The Ford F-150 XL is not big on the razzle-dazzle: Instead of chrome, it has a black plastic grille and bumpers standard. Instead of aluminum, it rides on steel rims.

Where the Ford F-150 XL excels, for its price point is its technology. Ford builds every XL with an 8-inch swipe capacitive touchscreen. It loads the truck with Ford’s SYNC 4 infotainment technology, Ford Co-Pilot360 driver aids, and a backup camera with a Dynamic Hitch Assist feature.

Every F-150 XL also comes with selectable drive modes and Ford’s “AdvanceTrac” electronic stability system with roll stability control. If you opt for the 4WD F-150 XL you get an electronic-shift-on-the-fly transfer case and “neutral towing capability” which makes the truck easier to tow.

2022 Ford F-150 XLT ($36,630)

Upgrading to the Ford F-150 XLT unlocks many features. The XLT trim level gains standard power windows, cruise control, and power door locks. The automaker also adds halogen fog lamps and privacy glass for the F-150 XLT.

While the F-150 XL offers basic Ford Co-Pilot360, the F-150 XLT adds Co-Pilot360 2.0. This second-generation software can operate your brakes and steering to keep you safe. Therefore it includes a ton of driver aids such as a lane-keeping system, blind-spot monitoring, and automatic high beams. Safety features include pre-collision warnings and automatic braking as well as post-collision braking, reverse sensing, and reverse brake assist.

The 2022 XLT also features several visual upgrades. It has chrome front and rear bumpers as well as 17-inch aluminum wheels. If you would prefer chromeless, you can opt for the new “black appearance” package.

2022 Ford F-150 Lariat ($46,140)

The first named trim level of the 2022 F-150 is the Lariat. $46,140 gets you a 2WD Lariat with an extended, two-door cab. But this truck features many modern features not standard on the XLT.

Firstly, every Lariat comes with Ford’s 12-inch LCD display. The infotainment system is loaded with Ford SYNC 4 with voice recognition. The truck also has Ford’s SecuriCode keyless-entry keypad and push-button start. Other features include its auto-dimming rearview mirror and dual-zone automatic temperature control

The F-150 Lariat also features added chrome, upgraded rims, and a luxury interior. For standard interior features, Ford offers leather-trimmed captain’s chairs and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.

The Lariat is more capable than other trim levels too: Ford offers a Class IV trailer hitch standard on this truck. In addition, the Lariat boasts Ford’s “Zone Lighting” which is 360-degree worksite illumination.
