What’s Good Enough for Batman, Angelina Jolie, and Vin Diesel? This MV Agusta
“Batman Begins” star Christian Bale and “Gone in 60 Seconds” star Angelina Jolie don’t seem like they would have two wheels in common. However, both stars have a motorcycle in common. Well, not only those two but Vin Diesel as well. That’s right; all three stars have straddled an MV Agusta F4 in their movies.
The MV Agust F4 sport bike is common ground for Batman, Sway, and xXx
The latest “Batman,” Robert Pattinson, rides a custom cafe bike in his noir take on a young, wayward Dark Knight. However, Christian Bale’s Bruce Wayne rides a much more tantalizing Italian performance motorcycle in “The Dark Knight.” The bike? Well, it’s none other than an MV Agusta F4 in its iconic red and silver livery.
Wayne doesn’t ride the bike for long, but it’s enough to implant the two-tone sport bike in the minds of Batman fans everywhere. I mean, the bike has to serve as the two-wheeled counterpart for the Lamborghini Aventador that Christian Bale’s Bruce Wayne flaunts around the corrupt city. In addition to Gotham City’s antihero, Angelina Jolie rides the same bike in the same livery in “Gone in 60 Seconds.”
And what better motorcycle for a derelict, marches-to-her-own-drum character Ferrari mechanic than a gleaming, two-tone MV Agusta F4? Many fans actually refer to it as the “Ferrari of sport bikes.” While that label is up for debate, the F4’s screen-ready good looks and bark simple aren’t.
What’s more, while Jolie’s character “Sway,” doesn’t ride the F4 for long, it’s enough to register with fans. In a movie dominated by car theft and four-wheeled shenanigans, the high-strung Italian performance motorcycle looks right at home. Motorcycle enthusiasts might even remember it despite a flying Shelby GT500.
Finally, Vin Diesel might be better known for his role as Dominic Toretto in the “Fast & Furious” franchise. However, he also played an outlaw extreme athlete in “xXx.” In the film, Diesel’s character, Xander Cage, rides an MV Agusta up to his inexplicably spacious warehouse apartment.
You can’t fault the filmmakers for picking the MV Agusta for the films. Even the early MV Agusta F4 1000cc bikes produced 166 hp at nearly 12,000 rpm. As you might imagine, that’s an orchestral way to hit high speeds.
