Be Prepared to Wait for Your 2024 Ford Ranger
We understand the appeal of the brand-new Ford Ranger and shouldn’t be surprised by the execution. Popular models like the Ford Maverick and Ford Bronco are scooped up in the blink of an eye despite struggling with months of delays. Things aren’t looking much better for the 2024 Ford Ranger, either.
How long is the wait for the 2024 Ford Ranger?
If things are firing on all cylinders, then it might be possible to get a 2024 Ford Ranger in roughly six to 12 weeks. But things aren’t firing on cylinders, and the new hopeful outlook only includes a three-month wait time.
However, dealers have shared that the most realistic time frame is between six months to a year. With this prediction comes a few concerning clues about how production and demand are going.
Production did kick off in August after facing small delays, but only 259 models were made. During the same time frame, roughly 14,771 Ford Bronco models were produced. Customer build dates for the Ranger are continuing to be pushed back.
Now, the United Auto Workers (UAW) Union strike isn’t helping, as the Michigan Assembly Plant faces a strike. This plant is where the Ranger is built, and production has totally stopped. Ford also laid off 600 workers.
It’s unclear when production will resume or if Ford still has enough hands on deck to build trucks at a fast rate.
The Ranger was available for the Red Carpet Lease deal in select markets, but the promotion was canceled. Leasing the Ranger could be petty expensive, and Ford may have made this move to free up more Ranger models.
On top of everything else, supply chain constraints are still an issue. Ford needs more semiconductor chips for anti-theft motion sensors, inclination sensors, and heated exterior mirrors. Some of the features may get dropped to boost production.
Is the 2024 Ranger worth buying?
Despite one potential long wait, the 2024 Ford Ranger is worth buying. It builds on the outgoing generation with enhanced comfort, increased power, a modern interior, advanced tech, and incredible off-roading upgrades.
The standard engine is still the reliable 2.3-liter inline-dour EcoBoost option with 270 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque. But you can now upgrade to the 2.7-liter V6 engine for 315 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque.
The Range Raptor has a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 engine with 405 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque. Each engine is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
Plus, the wheelbase and track were widened by 2.0 inches to provide a smoother ride and more stability. Also, the shocks were moved outside the frame rail for more control.
Wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto are standard. You can upgrade from the 10.1-inch touchscreen to the 12.0-inch unit.
Plus, there’s an available 12.4-inch digital guage cluster. Park assist, Trail Control, and traffic sign recognition are only a few of the new tech features to get excited about.
How much does the 2024 Ranger cost?
You can get started with the 2024 Ford Ranger for $32,565, and the top-spec Ranger Raptor model takes the price up to $55,365. These MSRPs don’t include the $1,595 destination fee or dealership markups.
You can still order the 2024 Ranger. It’s unclear how many models have been ordered and when the order bank will close. You can use the build and price configurator to build your ideal model online or contact a local dealership.
The first Ranger deliveries are expected to begin in the fall of 2023, which is pretty much now. So, hopefully, we will see some new Ranger models hit the streets and local dealerships soon.
