Being Best for Adventure Almost Helps the Jeep Gladiator
The people wanted a Jeep and Stallantis answered the call. It built the Jeep Gladiator, which is literally a Jeep Wrangler truck. But giving the people what they wanted didn’t help this truck succeed. The 2024 Jeep Gladiator faces declining sales despite being the best vehicle for adventure.
The 2024 Jeep Gladiator is the best vehicle for adventure
According to AutoTrader the 2024 Jeep Gladiator and Jeep Wrangler are the best vehicle for adventure. This is the second year in a row that these Jeep models have driven off with this award.
A panel of 20 vehicle critics and off-roading enthusiasts voted for the Gladiator and Wrangler as the top options for facing rugged conditions on remote roads for work and play.
The Gladiator beat rivals like the Toyota Tacoma, Ford Ranger, and Rivian R1T for this coveted honor. It impressed the judged with its rugged capabilities that come straight from the factory.
It offers plenty of customization options, trims, and accessories, allowing customers to configure their ideal rigs.
It has a durable platform with stout off-roading suspension competitions and tough tires. Plus, it has innovative software to help people of all skill levels conquer the wild.
The 2024 Jeep Gladiator is more expensive than its rivals with its $37,895 MSRP. However, it provides a solid value with standard features such as 4×4. It’s backed by Jeep’s reputation for durability, though. The Gladiator can be a solid investment.
But being built for adventure and connecting to the wild isn’t everything. The Gladiator is facing a steep sales decline.
In 2021, the Gladiator sold 89,712 models, then in 2022 it moved 77,855, and it finished 2023 with 55,187 sales. That’s a really intense drop-off.
Now the Gladiator can be found with 15% off its MSRP and up to $20,000 in factory and dealership discounts because they’re not moving quickly.
While it’s great for adventure, it may be lacking in other areas. For example, critics complain about its choppy ride quality, vague steering, subpar fuel economy, loud interior, and lack of storage.
It’s worth mentioning that it has a longer wheelbase than the Wrangler, providing a smoother ride but more work needs to be done. The 2024 Gladiator sweetens the deal with a revised look, enhanced capabilities, and new tech. Stay tuned to see if that’s enough to turn things around.
