Being Fashionably Late Won’t Hurt the 2025 Mazda CX-70
We hope you’re excited because Mazda SUVs aren’t done changing the game. While the 2025 Mazda CX-70 was delayed, it’s better late than never. The Mazda CX-70 is almost here and could have rivals like the Kia Sportage, Toyota RAV4, and Honda CR-V feeling pretty nervous.
When will the 2025 Mazda CX-70 come out?
The 2025 Mazda CX-70 will make its official debut on January 30, 2024, at 11 AM EST. We’re only days away from seeing this new SUV hit the stage with advanced tech, unmatched elegance, and luxurious style. It was supposed to arrive in 2024, so it’s late, but that’s fine.
Mazda has been churning out a few iconic winners, like the rugged Mazda CX-50 and three-row Mazda CX-90. Both options are designed to meet American demands for more space, efficiency, and engagement.
Plus, Mazda must be on the right track because was named as the 2024 Best SUV Brand by the U.S. News and World Report.
The Mazda CX-70 should be bigger than the CX-50 but smaller than the CX-90. Rumors suggest that it will be based on the CX-60 that’s available in other countries, but it’s a little wider and longer.
Allegedly, the CX-70 will use the same powertrain options as the CX-90. The CX-90 starts with a standard turbocharged 3,3-liter V6 engine with 280 hp and 332 lb-ft of torque. With higher trim levels, the engine is tuned to crank out 340 hp and 396 lb-ft of torque.
The PHEV or plug-in hybrid model pairs a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with an electric motor and a 17.8-kWh battery pack to generate 323 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque.
These figures may differ from the CX-70 because it might weigh less than the CX-90. It won’t have a third row, but AWD will probably come standard.
The CX-90 PHEV has an electric range of about 23 miles on a single charge. It gets an EPA-estimated 56 MPGe.
When it’s out of charge, it gets an EPA-estimated 23 mpg in the city and up to 28 mpg on the highway. The smaller CX-70 could provide even better results.
While the CX-5 provides plenty of luxury, the CX-70 is expected to take things to the next level. It may cost more and start around $35,000. This tracks as the CX-50 starts at $30,300 and the CX-90 rings in at $39,595.
