Soon the new Ford F-150 Raptor R will be free to roar as much as it wants. The 2023 Ford Raptor R will officially debut on July 18, so take this time to prepare yourself. This new truck isn’t just fast. It’s scary fast.
How fast is the 2023 Ford F-150 Raptor R?
We are days away from learning about how much power the 2023 Ford F-150 Raptor R has and how fast it can go. A new horror film styled poser warns us about thrilling this monster truck could be.
The image is coated in blood red and shows a cactus on fire! It dares us to experience a new type of fast that goes beyond fast because it’s scary fast. So hopefully, we got the right idea about this truck. It should be, you guessed it, FAST.
We hope the rumors about the supercharged 5.2-liter V8 Predator engine are true. This engine is found in the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 and cranks out 760 hp and 625 lb-ft of torque. It should be powerful enough to send the Raptor R flying.
The regular Ford F-150 Raptor uses a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 engine with 450 hp and 510 lb-ft of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 5.6 seconds, which isn’t fast enough.
The Ram 1500 TRX has a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 Hellcat engine with 702 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque. It can reach 60 mph in about 3.7 seconds, so that’s the target to beat. According to HotCars, it could reach 60 mph in under four seconds.
What comes with the F-150 Raptor R?
The 2023 Ford F-150 Raptor R will build upon the regular Ford F-150 with a few suspension and performance upgrades. Instead of a dual-clutch setup, it could have an updated 10-speed automatic transmission.
It could get the TR-9070 setup from the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500, which would improve its racing performance. All the signs are pointing to a monster truck that’s ready to tackle desert sand.
The software may feature unique transmission calibration with advanced powertrain control software to improve shifting speed. Plus, the torque converter may feature a heavy-duty turbine damper.
Plus, the Raptor R could gain a torque-on-demand transfer case and a TORSEN front limited-slip differential. The 9.75-inch rear axle could have an electronically limited slip differential.
Spy photos suggest that the Ratpr R rides on massive 37-inch BF Goodrich KO2 All-Terrain tires. Electronically controlled Live Fox Valve Shocks sweeten the package as well.
How much does the F-150 Raptor R cost?
Don’t expect the 2023 Ford F-150 Raptor R to come cheap. The 2022 Ford F-150 Raptor R already starts at $69,905. The Raptor R could increase the price by thousands to cover the extra power and off-roading upgrades.
The Ram 1500 TRX starts at $78,790, so the Raptor R could undercut its price. But we haven’t seen what type of luxury the interior will offer.
The regular Raptor already features aluminum paddle shifters, pieces of carbon fiber trim, a 12-inch digital gauge cluster, and a 12-inch infotainment system.
We only have to wait a few more days to see the complete picture. Stay tuned for the latest Ford F-150 Raptor R updates. It could reach dealerships by the end of the year.
