There are plenty of 10-year-old SUVs, but not all of the options are fuel-efficient. Edmunds thought the 2012 Ford Escape Hybrid checks that box. With 34 mpg in the city, 31 mpg on the highway, and 32 mpg combined, you won’t have to stop as much. The Ford SUV still has a lot of technology for its age. Buyers could opt for front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, and it can even tow 3,500 pounds when properly equipped. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) gave the 2012 Escape a three-star safety rating overall.

The NHTSA gave it a four-star safety rating overall, and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) gave it its highest score of “good.”

The NHTSA gave the 2012 Juke a four-star safety rating during crash testing. The IIHS gave the Juke plenty of “good” ratings on its crashworthiness tests, and it earned the Top Safety Pick award.
