There’s a lot to like about the Jeep Renegade if you’re judging by looks alone. This baby Jeep is known for its upscale style and impressive off-roading capabilities, but not much else. The Renegade consistently earns low predicted reliability ratings from the likes of Consumer Reports and J.D. Power. It’s also not the most comfortable ride either. If you’re looking for a more well-rounded crossover, and aren’t planning to go off-road, here are the ones you should consider over the Renegade.
2020 Hyundai Kona
Hyundai’s Kona is a well-rounded crossover SUV known for its peppy engine choices and handsome car cabin. Standard Kona models come with a 147-horsepower 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that’s linked to a six-speed automatic. For more power, you can opt for the available 175-hp 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that’s paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. No matter which engine you choose, you will find that the Kona is fun to drive and comfortable.
The Kona can seat up to five people and offers a handsome car cabin. We also like the Kona because of its long list of standard tech features. Standard infotainment features on the Kona include a 7-inch touchscreen, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay. It also comes with a few advanced safety features such as forward-collision warning and a driver attention monitor.

2021 Kia Seltos
The Kia Seltos is an all-new model that became an instant standout because of its smooth ride quality. This crossover comes with a 146-hp, 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with a continuously variable automatic transmission. Critics such as U.S. News like the base engine on the Seltos overall but notes it feels hesitant as it reaches higher speeds.
There’s also a second engine option for the Seltos, and it’s the same turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder that’s available on the Kona. The Seltos also shares other features with its corporate cousin, such as an easy-to-use infotainment system with multiple smartphone connection options. It’s also generous on interior space. It is disappointing that not many advanced safety features come standard, though.

2020 Nissan Rogue Sport
Just when you thought the Rouge couldn’t get any cuter, Nissan goes and makes the Rogue Sport. We have to say that the Rogue Sport is a better choice if you want a super chill ride that offers tons of in-car electronics. The Rogue Sport leaves a little to be desired when it comes to performance. This crossover comes with a 141-hp four-cylinder engine that feels dull at times. The Rouge is a comfortable ride, but it’s not sporty by any means.
The Rogue Sport does fare much better in regards to technology. Along with Apple CarPlay and Android, the Rogue Sport also comes standard with Siri Eyes Free and voice recognition. There’s an original hands-free text messaging feature too. As far as advanced safety goes, the Rogue Sport comes with Nissan’s impressive Advanced Drive-Assist display.
