Over the years, the practice of veganism has become more popular. The variety of vegan-friendly choices has extended past the food industry and to the car industry as well. Here are a few of our favorites vehicles with vegan interiors.

Tesla Model 3

Tesla has completely changed the automotive industry with its lineup of innovative electric vehicles. Each Tesla offers something special, but the Tesla Model 3 is arguably the most popular one. The Model 3 accelerates quickly and has an impressive battery range of 322 miles. Furthermore, the Model 3 is the cheapest in the Tesla lineup. 

In 2019, Tesla’s outspoken CEO Elon Musk stated that both the Model 3 and the Model Y crossover would go entirely vegan by 2020. Musk announced last fall that the Model 3 was the first to offer a completely vegan interior. Tesla’s focus on vegan interior options started over five years ago.

Musk started looking into substitutions for leather upholstery after speaking with the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals org. Since Tesla has worked to make its car cabins leather-free, PETA has recognized the company as one of the best vegan car brands. here is one disclaimer you should be aware of, though. PETA recommends that drivers contact automakers to confirm that their materials are cruelty-free. Aside from leather, other aspects of a car’s interior might be made of animal-derived fabrics.

Subaru Outback 

Another one of PETA’s favorite vegan interior options is the ever-popular Subaru Outback. Subaru completely redesigned the Outback for 2020, and its cabin is now more luxurious than ever. For a leather-free cabin, you will want to stick with the Outback base model, which comes with a handsome cloth interior. Overall, the Outback’s cabin is well-padded and serene. There’s no shortage of space either since this wagon can comfortably seat five.

Along with its high-end interior, the Outback is known for its dynamic performance. Subaru’s four-wheel-drive comes standard on the Outback plus a satisfying 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that creates 182-horsepower. The Outback also gets extra points for its balanced handling that adds to its overall comfort. Whether you’re on- or off-road, you’ll find that the Outback offer’s one of the most pleasant driving experiences.

Kia Soul S 

With the 2020 Kia Soul, you get fun and practicality. The Soul’s signature boxy shape translates to a spacious interior, even for long-legged passengers. Critics also appreciate the Soul for its great driver’s visibility. The Soul offers an upscale feeling cabin without the presence of leather, on some trims levels anyway. 

This Kia comes standard with cloth upholstery, and you can upgrade to PETA’s recommendation, the Soul S trim. The Soul S trim features a premium cloth interior. Faux leather is available on the higher trims, but that also adds a leather-covered steering wheel and gearshift. Another reason to like the Soul’s interior is that it has desirable infotainment features. The Soul comes with a 7-inch touchscreen, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay.
