The future will be an EV future, and nowadays, there are already many great options on the market other than Tesla. Many other automakers are also close to releasing great EVs in the near future, and that’ll only give customers more options. Here’s a look at 10 of the best EVs in the world right now, as well as some great upcoming options.

10. Kia EV6 is one of the best EVs

According to CleanTechnica, the 10th best-selling EV is the Kia EV6. The EV6 sold over 9,000 units in April 2022 alone. This great offering from Kia gets over 300 miles of range, and it’ll have an affordable starting price tag of about $40,000. 

9. Hyundai Ioniq 5

In April, Hyundai sold about 9,700 Ioniq 5s. In terms of specs, the Ioniq 5 is very similar to the EV6, as it can also get over 300 miles of range and starts at about $40,000.

8. BYD Yuan Plus

Since China is the world’s largest EV market, it’s no surprise that Chinese automakers are selling a lot of EVs and PHEVs in China. The Yuan Plus from BYD sold just over 10,000 units in April. The Yuan Plus is a compact SUV with some nice futuristic features inside.

7. BYD Han EV is one of the best EVs

The Han EV is another popular option from BYD, but instead of being an SUV, the Han is a luxury sedan. In April, BYD sold about 10,200 units of the car. According to BYD, the Han EV can get over 370 miles of range, and it’s also the fastest in China. It can go from 0 to 62 mph in just 3.9 seconds.

6. BYD Dolphin

The Dolphin, meanwhile, is an electric hatchback. It has less range and a weaker motor than the Han EV, but the Dolphin should be more affordable overall. It’s also more popular than the Han, as BYD sold about 12,000 units in April.

5. BYD Qin Plus PHEV

The Qin Plus PHEV is a plug-in hybrid sedan, and while BYD does offer a full EV version of the car, it doesn’t seem as popular in China. The PHEV version sold about 12,500 units in April alone.

4. Tesla Model 3 is one of the best EVs

The Model 3 needs no introduction for EV fans, and it’s no surprise it’s a great selling car. In April, Tesla sold about 15,000 units of the car worldwide.

3. Tesla Model Y

The Model Y also needs little introduction, and it’s selling better than the Model 3 is around the world. In April, Tesla sold just under 19,000 units of the car. The Model 3 and the Model Y are still great options as they both still get over 300 miles of range.

2. BYD Song Pro/Plus PHEV

The Song Pro/Plus PHEV from BYD sold better than many other true EVs did, though, as it sold over 20,000 units in April. The Song is a compact SUV, so it should be a good option for many Chinese families.

1. Wuling Hong Guang Mini EV is one of the best EVs

The best-selling EV right now is the Wuling Hong Guang Mini. It’s sold in China, and the company sold over 27,000 units in April. Interestingly, the company that makes it works with General Motors so that this EV may come to America soon.
