In short, the list comprises 12 total trucks, each of which comes from one of two automakers. Shockingly, all 12 listings are either Ford or Ram models. Not a single Toyota, Nissan, or Chevy model made KBB’s best full-size pickup trucks list.

KBB employees drive every vehicle they can get their hands on. They then consider the interior, exterior, engine, powertrain, ride, and handling. Additionally, the reviewers look at whether or not the smoothness of the ride and the included features match the price tag. Is this driving experience worth what the automaker asks for it?

Next, KBB determines whether or not the vehicle serves the purpose for which it’s built. For instance, you wouldn’t judge a work truck based on technology and features, and you wouldn’t judge a small crossover on its towing capability. Instead, KBB determines if a crossover is suitable for commuting and fitting passengers inside and if a work truck is good for, well, working.

That’s what happened with the list of best full-size pickup trucks. Depending on the truck’s purpose, is there value in buying it? For example, a work truck with lots of capability and low cost is meeting or exceeding its value.

The top 5 on KBB’s list of best full-size trucks are all Ford models. Surprisingly, the first three are Ford F-150 variants, and the next two are the F-250 and F-350. Included on the list are two different Ram 1500 variants. Subsequently, there are several Ram 2500 models, and a couple of Ram 3500s round out the list.

It’s clear that KBB uses a specific set of criteria since Ram’s cheapest model is ranked first, just like Ford’s offerings. KBB’s best full-size pickup trucks are the most affordable but provide a lot of value.
