The Best Full-Size Pickup Trucks Are No Surprise
Full-size pickup trucks are always in style, even if small trucks are having a moment in the spotlight. Ahead of the new year, some of the more popular full-size truck options are the 2022 Ram 1500, 2022 Ford F-150, and 2022 Toyota Tundra.
The 2022 Ram 1500 is a highly-rated full-size truck
It may come as no surprise to see the 2022 Ram 1500 on this list from U.S. News. In fact, U.S. News says it is powerful, capable, and comfortable with “no notable weaknesses.” While there are no significant changes from the 2021 Ram, this truck didn’t need many. It offers a comfortable ride and luxurious cabin, plus roomy seats. The infotainment system is intuitive and easy to use, and it seats five or six passengers.
Depending on the engine type, the 2022 Ram 1500 gets between 15 and 23 mpg in the city. That goes up to 21 to 33 mpg on the highway. U.S. News rated this full-size truck 9.1 out of 10. The critics gave it a 9.9 out of 10, while J.D. Power gave it a score of 86 out of 100. The Ram 1500 can tow up to 12,750 pounds and haul up to 2,300 pounds.
Starting MSRP: $33,975
The 2022 Ford F-150 is a reliable truck
Along with the 2022 Ram 1500, the 2022 Ford F-150 received much praise. While most people might be focused on the F-150 Lightning electric truck, the regular F-150 is still a reliable vehicle. This full-size truck came in second, behind the Ram. This truck has many features that make it ready to work hard.
The fuel economy sits between 14 and 19 mpg in the city, which isn’t great. It didn’t change much from the 2021 model, but it did not need to. The 2022 F-150 has a maximum towing capacity of 8,200 pounds and a maximum payload of 1,985 pounds—that sort of makes up for the low fuel rating. The 2022 Ford F-150 has room for three to six people depending on which style you choose.
Starting MSRP: $29,640
Don’t overlook the 2022 Toyota Tundra
The 2022 Toyota Tundra got a pretty big overhaul this year. It has a powerful engine, composed ride, and comfortable seats. U.S. News says it has a user-friendly infotainment system as well. It came in third on the list of full-size trucks, but give it a moment to hit the ground running.
U.S. News gave it an 8.2 out of the 10 total. The experts at J.D. Power gave it 86 out of 100, which is still respectable. The 2022 Toyota Tundra can tow up to 12,000 pounds and haul up to 1,940 pounds. Both of those are improved stats over the 2021 version. Trucks like the 2022 Ram 1500 and F-150 are more upscale inside, but the Tundra is new.
Starting MSRP: $35,950
No matter if you choose the 2022 Ram 1500, 2022 Ford F-150, or the 2022 Toyota Tundra, you can bet it won’t let you down.
