Edmunds found the 2022 Volvo XC90 has a lot to offer buyers. Both the interior and exterior are described as elegant, while the handling is precise. Second and third-row passengers will have comfortable seats. Buyers can also opt for the plug-in hybrid powertrain, which offers even better fuel economy. With three power trains, three trim levels, and plenty of features to choose from, the XC90 will fit into a lot of lifestyles.

Volvo equipped the 2022 Volvo XC90 with forward collision warning, lane departure warning, and blind-spot warning. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) gave this luxury midsize SUV the Top Safety Pick Plus award.

Acura’s MDX is one of the best luxury midsize SUVs for 2022

When it comes to the 2022 Acura MDX, Edmunds said it had a comfortable cabin and plenty of cargo space. The handling is described as “sporty,” but the ride is relaxed. All of the latest technology someone might want is included in the midsize Acura SUV. It also comes with all-wheel drive, enhancing traction in bad weather conditions.

Forward collision warning, lane departure warning, and blind-spot warning are standard. Also included are rear cross-traffic warning and automatic emergency braking. The IIHS gave the 2022 Acura MDX the Top Safety Pick Plus award, cementing its spot on the best luxury midsize SUVs for 2022.

The Lexus RX 350 is one of America’s favorite sport utility vehicles

Edmunds says the 2022 Lexus RX 350 doesn’t stray too far off its well-established path, but that’s what owners like about it. Lexus is known for making SUVs that provide a stress-free ownership experience. The cabin is attractive and uses luxury materials, and the refined suspension gives the RX SUV its signature comfortable ride. Buyers can opt for the regular version, the hybrid version (RX 450h), or the long-wheelbase version (RX 350L).

The same safety features are included standard like forward collision warning, blind-spot warning, and automatic emergency braking. While the IIHS gave it a Top Safety Pick award, Edmunds says the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) gave it four stars overall. A stress-free ownership experience is what the Lexus brand is all about. It even received the best dealership experience award earlier this year.

Even with the luxury price tag, these midsize SUVs have a lot to offer buyers. While these are the best luxury midsize SUVs for 2022, the 2023 options are already rolling out. That might mean better sales of the outgoing models toward the end of the year.
