The 2022 Kia Carnival was one of Consumer Reports’ picks for the best minivans with comfortable third-row seats. One of the benefits of having a third row is the extra space for the rest of the soccer team or a few sleeping bags for the weekend’s adventure. However, those third-row seats aren’t always comfortable.

Kia says the Carnival isn’t a minivan; it is a Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV). However, it does replace the minivan in Kia’s lineup. The Carnival has a comfortable third row for whatever cargo might need to go back there. One suggestion from Consumer Reports is that if you have children who need to sit back there regularly, have everyone try out the seats before buying. If you need to put a car seat back there, make sure it will fit. The Kia Carnival is a brand-new design and scored well on all Consumer Reports tests.

The 2022 Chrysler Pacifica is also one of the best minivans with comfortable third-row seats

Consumer Reports thought the 2022 Chrysler Pacifica was one of the best minivans with comfortable third-row seats. Buyers can opt for seats for seven or eight passengers, and Chrysler says adults can fit in the third row. The Pacifica returned good results on Consumer Reports testing and received the “green choice” recommendation.

The second row of seats doesn’t slide around like some minivans, but this row will fold into the floor if needed. The predicted reliability score was below average, but the predicted owner satisfaction was higher. That means that owners are generally happy with the Pacifica minivan purchase.

Don’t overlook the 2022 Honda Odyssey

The 2022 Honda Odyssey made the list of best minivans with comfortable third-row seats. Consumer Reports thought the 2022 Honda Odyssey performed well on the road test and returned 22 mpg overall. The Honda minivan only received average scores for the predicted reliability and owner satisfaction.

However, the Honda Odyssey had more room in the third row than any other SUV tested. It doesn’t have the most shoulder space, though. The second row of seats moves around for extra space, too. It can be a bit hard to get to the third row of seats, but it’s smooth sailing once back there.

Price Range:  $33,040 – $48,770

If you have a minivan in mind, go check it out in person. Be sure to bring the children or adults most likely to sit in the third row to ensure it is comfortable for everyone. The third row is generally more cramped than the second row, which means not everyone will fit. Either way, these are some of the best with comfortable third-row seats.
