Three-year-old SUVs capture the best of both worlds: these vehicles still have most of the latest technology but come with a used car price. So what are some of the best three-year-old full-size SUVs on the market?

J.D. Power says the 2019 Ford Expedition has a variety of trim levels to choose from, plus the MAX extended length option. Ford offers the Sync 3 system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and FordPass Connect offers a Wi-Fi hot spot. Depending on the specs, it gets 17 mpg in the city and 22-24 on the highway. The Expedition can get loud, but it can also get dirty and handle whatever the family throws at it.

J.D. Power gave the Chevrolet Tahoe the quality award

Three years back, J.D. Power gave the 2019 Chevrolet Tahoe the quality award winner. This large SUV scored an 86 out of 100 for quality and reliability, which is essential for such a large vehicle. While the Tahoe only gets 15 mpg in the city and 21 mpg on the highway, it has all the necessary creature comforts. The owners reported it was quiet and stylish.

The Cadillac Escalade used to be THE full-size SUV

The 2019 Cadillac Escalade was the SUV to have back in the day. It is considered a luxury premium SUV by J.D. Power, which makes sense given the fan base for this vehicle. But it has plenty of room, lots of interior luxury, and enough cargo space for all your weekend adventures. The Cadillac Escalade owners reported enjoying the styling of gauges, the navigation system, and the acceleration.

Looking for reliable? The three-year-old Toyota Sequoia SUV is it

Those loyal to the Toyota brand will love the 2019 Toyota Sequoia. As far as full-size SUVs go, this has the best of both worlds. It offers the brand’s reliability combined with plenty of space and comfort. J.D. Power says the third row is comfortable, and the cargo area is spacious, plus it is still relatively easy to drive for such a big SUV. The 2019 Sequoia only gets 13 mpg in the city and 17 mpg on the highway, so it isn’t the most efficient option.

The Chevrolet Suburban can tow a lot for such a big SUV

The 2019 Chevrolet Suburban is a classic option as far as full-size SUVs go. It is so big that some owners report that visibility is limited. However, it has a ton of room in the back and the cabin, a powerful engine, and three trim levels to choose from. It still comes with all of the creature comforts like an available Wi-Fi hotspot, a DVD system in the back, and a towing capacity of 8,300 pounds. It also has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Don’t overlook the GMC Yukon SUV (and the Denali trim)

The 2019 GMC Yukon has a comfortable interior and a powerful engine, big enough for this full-size SUV. The Yukon gets 14-15 mpg in the city and 21-23 mpg on the highway. J.D. Power says it is “built to help you avoid trouble.” For a 2019 vehicle, it has many active safety features that help the whole family stay safe, like forward collision alert and lane departure warning. Plus, the Denali trim is one of the most luxurious options on the market.

Since full-size SUVs are so popular these days, it can be a little harder to track down a good one. Finding a certified pre-owned vehicle is recommended, or getting a pre-purchase inspection to ensure no expensive problems are hiding.
