The used car market isn’t exactly full of good deals right now, and three-year-old pickup trucks are a hot commodity. Consumer Reports has all the information like fuel economy, safety ratings, and engine types.

Consumer Reports says the 2019 Ford F-150 is a pretty safe truck when it comes to safety. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) gave the 2019 F-150 mostly five stars in its crashworthiness tests. Plus, the pickup truck’s 2.7L V6 turbo engine has enough power to keep up with whatever owners need, plus the aluminum body helps improve fuel economy. Even though it is a three-year-old pickup truck, it has plenty of updated technology and features. These include surround-view cameras, side spotlights, and a tailgate ladder. Don’t forget the Raptor off-road trim, either.

The Ford Ranger is one of the best three-year-old pickup trucks

The 2019 Ford Ranger is pretty fuel-efficient for its size. It gets 20 mpg in combined fuel economy. After eight years away from the market, the 2019 Ranger returned better than ever. Ford added automatic emergency braking (AEB) standard, which is an essential feature for potential buyers. Consumer Reports doesn’t call it a full-size truck but says it “serves as an alternative to full-sized pickups for drivers who want a maneuverable truck with off-road ability that can capably haul and tow.” The NHTSA gave the Ranger scores that range between three stars and five stars.

Another 2019 truck option is the Nissan Titan

Don’t confuse the 2019 Nissan Titan with its heavy-duty relative, the Titan XD. The regular Titan has a powerful enough V8, a light tailgate, and a roomy cabin. Consumer Reports says it isn’t the more reliable truck, but it’ll get the job done. The total only gets 16 mpg in overall fuel economy, too. But that V8 that was previously mentioned is a strong suit. “This new Titan has one of the punchiest powertrains in the segment, easily catapulting the truck to 60 mph in 6.7 seconds.” The NHTSA gave the Titan pickup truck five stars in the frontal-crash and side-crash tests.

The GMC Sierra 1500 is a solid three-year-old pickup truck

The most significant change for the 2019 GMC Sierra 1500 was the new 5.3L V8 engine. It has room for six passengers in the cabin and comes in three different body styles. The 2019 Sierra 1500 gets 17 mpg combined, which isn’t noteworthy. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) gave the GMC truck high “Good” ratings in the crashworthiness tests.

In conclusion, there are a few things to consider when it comes to the best three-year-old pickup trucks. Check out the fuel economy, safety ratings, and safety scores from the NHTSA and IIHS.
