The 2020 Honda CR-V compact SUV comes to mind when it comes to reliable vehicles. Based on the review from Consumer Reports, owners and critics seem to agree about the CR-V. The Honda SUV had a reliability score of five out of five, while the owner satisfaction score was three out of five. Looking at the reliability history, the CR-V has above-average scores all the way back to 2008.
J.D. Power says the Mazda CX-5 is an above-average compact SUV
For the 2020 Mazda CX-5, J.D. Power gave the SUV an overall score of 80. Owners said the cabin was quiet, and the materials used were quality. The driver’s assistance features were also easy to use. The CX-5 has smart brake support, collision warning, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. It also has adaptive headlights in the front to make driving at night easier. With 25 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway, the 2020 Mazda CX-5 is a great two-year-old compact SUV.
The Subaru Forester has high safety ratings across the board
Going back to the experts at Consumer Reports, the 2020 Subaru Forester had above-average scores across the board. Both the reliability and owner satisfaction scores were high, and the safety scores were top-notch as well. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) gave the Forester scores of “good” across the board for all of its crashworthiness testings. There are no recalls for the Subaru Forester, either.
Known for reliability, the Toyota RAV4 compact SUV is a great option
It is no secret that the 2020 Toyota RAV4 compact SUV is well-liked by owners. The experts at J.D. Power also had positive things to say about it. The RAV4 is known for its reliability and comes in a few trim levels. The Toyota compact SUV gets anywhere from 25-41 mpg in the city and 32-38 mpg on the highway, depending on the trim. It also comes in a hybrid powertrain option.

The 2020 Nissan Rogue has a bit of a higher MSRP than some of the other compact SUVs on this list. However, it offers a lot of value. Consumer Reports gave the SUV a four out of five for reliability, which is above-average. The IIHS gave the 2020 Rogue good scores for its crashworthiness tests. From the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), most of the scores were three and four stars. It also comes with forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot warning, and rear cross traffic warning.
