Snagging a used car bargain is a good feeling. Although if you don’t know what you’re looking for, finding that deal can be challenging to accomplish. However, taking advantage of depreciation is prudent for economy car hunters and luxury car shoppers alike who want a little bang for their buck. Here are some of the best deals on used cars since 2021.

  1. 2019 Mercedes-Benz S-Class
  2. 2018 Dodge Challenger
  3. 2019 Toyota Mirai
  4. 2019 BMW i8

The Mercedes-Benz S-Class continues to set the standard for luxury, technology, and… depreciation?

Mercedes-Benz’s flagship luxury sedan has a lot to offer. Depending on the spec, the S-Class featured powerful engines, all-wheel drive (AWD) systems, and a suite of pioneering technologies. For shoppers seeking a premium luxury used car, the 2019 S560 with AWD has depreciated 29.8 percent. Mind you, that 29.8 percent is from a bloated MSRP of $125,950. Still, the 2019 S-Class decreased 12.3 percent from six months ago.

The Dodge Challenger is a very popular coupe, and the largest displacement V8 in the lineup could end up in your garage thanks to depreciation. The Dodge Challenger Scat Pack packs a monstrous 6.4L naturally aspirated powerplant with a tire-scorching 485 horsepower. The best part? MotorTrend tracks a 4.5 percent decrease from the Scat Pack’s original MSRP. Kelley Blue Book (KBB) supports that claim with a fair purchase price of $37,831.

If you want a quirky hydrogen-powered vehicle, the 2019 Toyota Mirai might be an option for you

Toyota’s hydrogen fuel cell sedan experiences a lack of hydrogen fueling infrastructure and, as a result, has depreciated rapidly. If you live in a hydrogen fuel compliant region, you might consider this odd little Toyota. The Mirai will reward you with a 13.0 percent decrease from six months ago. However, before you rush out to buy a Mirai, consider that the Toyota model was only sold in California, and the fueling infrastructure isn’t improving much.

The 2019 BMW i8 is a radically styled hybrid-electric super coupe that depreciation has made accessible

The futuristic-looking hybrid coupe is still striking several years on. For consumers seeking a balance of presence and efficiency, the i8 has depreciated 36.2 percent from its original MSRP and 14.9 percent in the last six months. That means the BMW i8, with all of its carbon fiber and space-age technology, has seldom been this affordable.

You may not have expected a best deals list like this, but used car depreciation can put a fantastic car in your garage

If you’re the sort of person who wants to buy the newest cars right off the showroom floor, depreciation is not your friend. However, if you want more for your money, your closest ally is the inevitable decrease in value. Waiting for that particular vehicle to drop to a reasonable price is often the only way some folks can afford cars like the Dodge Challenger Scat Pack. As MotorTrend points out, some of these great cars have depreciated over 30 percent and are still falling in value.
