Please step into my time machine. We’re going to take a look at one beastly truck that has been flying under the radar for years. It’s the best used full-size truck for under $10,000, proving a bargain during these expensive times.

What is the best full-size truck for under $10,000?

The best full-size truck for under $10,000 is the Nissan Titan! Are you surprised? I bet you thought it was going to be an older Toyota Tundra or Ford F-150 model.

Anyways, Titan models from 2008 to 2012 have been the most popular used trucks for under $10,000 during the past five years. That means that this Titan trend has some heft.

iSeeCars made a list of the best-selling used trucks by analyzing over 9.2 million used car sales from the last five model years (2018 – 2022). Then it calculated each model’s share of used car sales. Heavy Duty options weren’t included.

People could be drawn to older Titan models because of its stout 5.6-liter V8 engine with 317 hp and 385 lb-ft of torque. When properly equipped, this truck can tow up to 9,500 lbs and carry a payload of up to 2,153 lbs.

However, the 2008 Titan has a reliability rating of 69 out of 100, which is concerning. Scores between 60 and 69 are below average. Anything between  70 and 80 is average, and scores between 81 and 100 are above average.

But the 2011 Titan earned a 75, so it looks like this truck was able to turn things around. The average Titan model is expected to last between 300,000 to 350,000 miles. A few examples have surpassed 400,000 miles.

2008 – 2015 Nissan Titan models are from the first generation after a mid-cycle refresh, meaning these models got facelifts, tech updates, and interior upgrades.

This generation has a ton of options available such as an 8-foot bed, extended cab, captain’s chairs, a standard spray-on bed liner, a driver’s side lock box, tie-down cleats, and an abundance of safety features.

Do your research and you can find the perfect used full-size truck for under $10,000.
