When Cars.com ranked some of the best towing SUVs, the 2021 Ford Expedition stole the top spot. Buyers will want to opt for the optional heavy-duty trailer package to get the full 9,300 pounds, but that is the highest rating for any 2021 SUV. This package comes with a heavy-duty radiator, blind-spot warning, and an integrated trailer-brake controller. It also comes with Pro Trailer Backup Assist and four-wheel drive.

The Expedition Max is longer than the standard version for those who still want more room, but the tow rating goes down to 9,000 pounds. The Expedition can tow around 6,000 pounds without any towing packages.

While the 2021 Dodge Durango SRT doesn’t look as big as some others on the list, it still has the second-highest towing capacity. The Dodge Durango R/T gets 360 hp from its 5.7-liter V8; the SRT gets 475 hp from the 6.4-liter V8. Those who opt for the Durango SRT Hellcat will have 710 hp from the 6.2-liter V8 and an 8,700-pound towing capacity.

The R/T and SRT can also pull that much when properly equipped. Dodge offers a new Tow N Go Package that helps match that maximum capacity. Buyers with the regular 3.6-liter V6 will get 6,200 pounds of towing capacity without the package, and the 5.7-liter V8 can still tow 7,400 pounds.

The Lincoln Navigator is a luxury sport utility vehicle that can tow

For those looking to tow with a bit of luxury, the 2021 Lincoln Navigator and Navigator L will get the job done. The regular version of the Navigator will max out at 8,700 pounds (or 8,300 pounds with all-wheel drive) with the heavy-duty tow package. For those that opt for the Navigator L, the tow ratings are 8,400 pounds (or 8,100 pounds with four-wheel drive) with the heavy-duty tow package.

Lincoln limits the tow ratings to 6,200 pounds for the Navigator and 6,600 pounds for the Navigator L. The heavy-duty tow package does add a heavy-duty radiator, trailer brake, and sway controllers. Pro Trailer Backup Assist and Smart Trailer Tow also come with the package.

As more 2023 vehicles hit the market, some dealerships might be trying to move these off the lot.
