What is the Best Used Toyota Truck Under $20,000?
If you are in the market for a pickup truck, Toyota has a few options on the market. These can get pretty expensive for the newer models, but we can go back a few years to find some good deals on Toyota Tacomas and Toyota Tundras.
The Toyota Tundra is a full-size pickup truck, and with that comes a higher price. However, don’t count out the sub-2010 models.
Thinking of picking up a used Toyota Tacoma?
The Toyota Tacoma, often affectionately called the taco, is one of Toyota’s best-selling trucks. This would be considered a more compact truck as opposed to a full-size truck.
From 2011 through 2015, Tacoma had its heyday. According to Consumer Reports, the reliability verdict stayed at five out of five throughout.
If you are looking for a 2011 Tacoma, you can pick one up for just under $10,000 and up past $20,000 with fewer miles. However, there are plenty of options under $15,000.
Taking a look at AutoTrader, a used Tacoma with around 150,000 miles will come in just under $14,000. Some higher mileage 2012 Tacomas are also just over $15,000.
For the 2013 Tacoma truck, CarFax has many options, even under $15,000 and under 150,000 miles. Check out this 2016 option with under 75,000 miles.
The Tundra is also worth a look
The Toyota Tundra is considered a full-size pickup truck. To get one of these trucks for a lower price, we have to move back a few years.
A 2007 Toyota Tundra is listed on AutoTrader for $13,995. Consumer Reports gave the 2007 model an overall three out of five stars for reliability and owner satisfaction.
You can also snap up a 2008 version for $19,500. Consumer Reports bumped this one up to four stars for reliability and owner satisfaction. If you want a newer model, the mileage certainly jumps up a lot for under $20,000.
The 2003 Tundra had fairly good scores across the board for reliability and owner satisfaction. CarFax has a boatload of options for under $10,000. Most of the trucks are past the 100,000 mile mark, but seem to be running strong.
Are Toyota Trucks reliable?
In general, Toyota makes some very reliable trucks and cars. Though Toyotas might be a bit more expensive on the front end, the trucks seem to outlast the competition.
By buying a used Toyota, you are getting the best of both worlds. The depreciation has already been factored into the price, and you still get an excellent truck that will continue to last.
Don’t worry about purchasing a Toyota truck new, either. There are plenty of excellent options on the used market that will suit your needs. If you are worried about the cost of maintaining one after a few years, check out some of the Certified Pro-Owned options.
