Better Jeep Gladiator Models Are Being Pushed Back
We have a little bad news for the dedicated Jeep Gladiator fans out there. If you wanted the Jeep Gladiator to get faster, enhanced for off-roading, or gain a better fuel economy, then you might have to wait.
The Jeep Gladiator 392 is on the back burner
What do we want? The Jeep Gladiator 392! When do we want it? As soon as possible! Jeep fans have been loud and clear about their desires for the Gladiator to gain a more powerful V8 engine.
Jeep Gladiator Senior Brand Manager Brandon Grimus acknowledged that Stellantis is aware of the demand. Reportedly, plenty of people shared that they would love to buy a Gladiator 392 after seeing the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392.
With the 6.4-liter HEMI V8 engine, the Wrangler 392 cranks out 470 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 4.5 seconds!
But during the New York Auto Show, the Head of Jeep, Jim Morrison, broke hearts. He shared that he doesn’t know if we will ever see a Glaidator 392 because it’s only about one-third of the Wrangler’s volume.
What about the Gladiator Xtreme Recon package?
Don’t get your hopes up for the Jeep Gladiator Xtreme Recon package yet. Jeep seems to be more focused on developing performance parts for the Jeep Wrangle 4xe instead.
While the Wrangler Xtreme Recon gets 35-inch tires straight from the factory, this doesn’t seem like it will happen for the Gladiator. However, Jim Morrison shared that Jeep will offer larger tires and different wheels through the Jeep Performance Parts division.
So instead of ordering a complete package, you may have to pair your own accessories. That’s not exactly bad since building unique rigs is a Jeep thing.
But the 2022 Ford Bronco Raptor comes with standard 37-inch tires, and Jeep hasn’t offered anything that large yet.
Jim Morrison shared that he enjoyed the Jeep Wrangler 4xe with 37-inch tires at the 2022 Easter Jeep Safari in Moab. He was excited to mention that he couldn’t find a single place that the 4xe couldn’t go.
Where is the Gladiator 4xe?
It feels like it’s been an eternity since we last saw teaser images about the Jeep Gladiator 4xe and all of its hybrid glory. But Jim Morrison didn’t reveal anything new about it. He didn’t confirm if its coming or when.
According to Muscle Cars and Trucks, Jeep plans to add electrification to each vehicle in the lineup by 2025. So, it’s possible that the Gladiator 4xe could make an appearance by the end of 2024.
But doesn’t it seem like we would have more clues about it by now? Is the Gladiator in trouble? We haven’t heard about any updates for the 2023 model yet. Some rumors suggest that the Gladiator will be refreshed after the Jeep Wrangler receives its mid-cycle refresh.
But we’re a little nervous because information about new updates is sparse. We will be on the lookout for Jeep Gladiator updates. It could remain the same until 2024.
