Another driver has put the Ram 1500 to the test, so you don’t have to. Justin put 250,000 miles on his 2019 truck during the last five years and took notes. See the most annoying issues that come with long-term Ram ownership.

The biggest Ram 1500 problems after five years

Justin Wheeler of Truck Central on YouTube has officially owned his 2019 Ram 1500 for five years. During this time, he managed to reach 250,000 miles with roughly 5,000 hours.

He pushed the truck to its limit and stored it in the elements. This truck was used and abused for work and play as he took notes.

A few minor complaints involve the paint and body. The black finish on the radiator grille is chipping off in large chunks, the paint-match bumper is chipping, and the factory windshield had to be replaced.

The rear window trim is cracked, but it’s not leaking yet. There is a little bubbling on the leather-wrapped dashboard too. Also, the tailgate constantly gets jammed.

Justin complains about how his black floor mats are turning white. The destruction of his driver seat is normal with its amount of use and the rest of the trim is flawless.

While the air suspension didn’t fail or show signs of damage, Justin just didn’t like it. He replaced the system with a three-inch lift kit instead.

Also, while the AC system worked just fine, Justin wanted more power. He installed a Muzzys AC hack kit to improve its cooling performance.

His truck has the 5.7-liter V8 HEMI engine with 395 hp and 410 lb-ft of torque. It got the infamous HEMI tick, and the exhaust manifold had to be replaced twice.

Recently, a wheel bearing issue left him stranded on the side of the road. However, Justin had the tools and knowledge to do the repair and then drive home. Plus, Justin is frustrated because he’s already on a third battery.

Despite cosmetic and engine problems, Justin still loves his truck. He plans to fully detail it soon to make it look as great as it did on day one.
