The Biggest Strength and Weakness of the 2024 Jeep Grand Wagoneer
Some high-end luxury SUVs bring an astronomical price, but these models tend to give you what you pay for. Not all vehicles like this will, though. One luxury vehicle from Jeep kind of falls in the middle, not really leaning to the luxury side or the regular mass market side. What does the 2024 Grand Wagoneer offer, and what are its biggest strength and weakness?
Where the 2024 Grand Wagoneer falls short
Usually, when you see the word ‘Grand’ on a vehicle, it denotes a feeling of over-the-top luxuriousness. When it comes to the 2024 Grand Wagoneer, however, you don’t quite get that. Sure, it has a few luxury amenities, but the SUV you get seems to fall more on the mass market side and less on the luxury side.
The Grand Wagoneer offers hidden wireless charging ports, but not it’s not exactly in a useful spot. It’s located behind the touchscreen, so if you need to access the port and charge your phone, you won’t be able to use the display screen. According to Edmunds, the charging pad doesn’t provide a strong connection to your phone anyway, allowing it to slip out of the port in your device quite easily.
Other frustrating aspects of the interior include being prone to smudging on touch-sensitive surfaces, lots of cheap-looking materials, and many of its interior panels have a tendency to creak when pressed. While these items aren’t necessarily a bad thing, it’s when you factor in the $90,000 estimated price tag that you begin to wonder if the vehicle is really worth paying that much for.
What is its biggest strength?
The interior of the 2024 Grand Wagoneer model is definitely where it’s at. First, there’s plenty of room to accommodate passengers of varying heights in all three rows of seats. Then, there’s the comfortable seating that can make long rides easier to bear no matter where you’re sitting in the vehicle.
But, what sets this vehicle apart from others in its class is the cargo area. You have the ability to haul a lot of stuff if you need to. Behind the third row of seats, you get 27.4 cu-ft of storage, which is more than its rival the Cadillac Escalade model offers, which is only 25.5 cu-ft.
If you fold down the last row of seats, you can increase the storage area to 72.9 cu-ft, which is more than enough to haul your daily gear or groceries. If you need more, though, you can fold down the second row of seats, which will give you an astonishing 96.9 cu-ft of space.
What do you get with the 2024 Grand Wagoneer?
With such a steep price for the 2024 Grand Wagoneer model, the question arises as to what you really get for the money. We know that under the hood on the Series I model is a 6.4-liter V8 engine producing 471 hp and 455 lb-ft of torque and it’s paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. This combination enables the large SUV to go from 0 to 60 mph in just under 6 seconds.
With the Series II and III models, a turbocharged Inline-six engine is standard. This unit generates 510 hp and 500 lb-ft and also comes with an eight-speed automatic. Four-wheel drive is standard on all trims. As for fuel economy, don’t expect too much. This beast of a vehicle offers only 13 mpg in the city and 18 mpg when traveling on the highway, which is about what rivals give you as well.
Another interesting standard feature is the adaptive air suspension system Jeep installed on the Grand Wagoneer. With this system, you can get up to 10 inches of ground clearance. However, you can lower and raise it as needed to get in and out of the vehicle.
The Grand Wagoneer comes with a grandiose price tag and tons of room to stretch out and haul items in. But, is it really worth spending that much money for a luxury SUV that doesn’t quite seem like a luxury vehicle at all? It’s up to you to decide.
