Bon Voyage: The Jeep Wrangler EcoDiesel Is Being Discontinued
We have bad news for diesel fans and Jeep Wrangler lovers. The 2023 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon will be the last model that features the EcoDiesel engine. The engine is being dropped by the Ram 1500 and the Wrangler, so say goodbye.
The 2023 Jeep Wrangler is your last chance to get the EcoDiesel engine
The 2023 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon is your last call for diesel power because the EcoDiesel engine is being dropped. In 2024, the 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 engine that cranks out 260 hp and 442 lb-ft of torque will no longer be available.
According to MoparInsiders, Jeep hasn’t provided an official date for when the production of the EcoDiesel engine will come to an end. It could be discontinued in January 2023. This is when production of the engine is slated to end for the Ram 1500.
This engine is currently available with the Jeep Gladiator, but Stallnatis hasn’t shared if it will be discontinued in the Jeep truck. To be safe, if you want this engine in any of the vehicles it’s currently offered with, then get moving.
Check out the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Farout Edition
The 2023 Jeep Wrangler EcoDiesel engine is going out with a bang. To celebrate its final goodbye, it will be offered with the new Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon Farout Edition. Wow, that’s a mouthful.
The Farout build is based on the Jeep Gladiator Farout concept for Overlanding, which featured the EcoDiesel for its off-roading capabilities.
In this build, the engine is paired with a ZF-sourced 8HP75 eight-speed TorqueFlight automatic transmission. It has been calibrated for low-RPM shifts.
The Farout Edition includes third-generation Dana 44 front and heavy-duty rear axles, a 3.73 axle ratio, and a Rock-Trac two-speed transfer case with a 4.0:1 low-range gear ratio. It rides on 17-inch x 7.5-inch black polished aluminum wheels.
It includes the trailer tow package with a 240-amp alternator, 700-amp maintenance-free battery, a 7- and 4-pin wiring harness, auxiliary switches, and a class II receiver hitch.
Exterior features consist of daytime running lamp LED accents, front LED fog lamps, LE reflector premium reflector headlamps, LED tail lamps, body-color flares, a black satin grille, an exclusive 3.0L Diesel badge, and a Diesel 3.0L hood graphic.
The interior features black leather seats with red accents, slush mats, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and remote start.
How much does the 2023 Wrangler EcoDiesel cost?
The 2023 Jeep Wangler starts at $30,249, and opting for the EcoDiesel engine adds $9,390. So, it begins at around $40,000. The Rubicon trim increases the cost to around $42,100 before adding the diesel engine. So, you could be looking at about $52,000 with the Rubicon EcoDiesel.
So, we can speculate that the Jeep Wrangler Unlimted Rubicon Farout Edition will be pretty expensive. However, the official price hasn’t been released. You can order the Farout Edition through November 2022, and deliveries should start by the end of the year.
We know the Jeep Wrangler is changing but aren’t sure how different it will become. It should be remodeled for 2024. Also, the first Jeep Wrangler EV is expected to arrive in 2024. But we can confirm that the EcoDiesel engine is going away.
