Jeff Anthony Shepherd and his truck have been missing since 2018. Police were looking for his Ford F-150 truck in the hopes that both would be found. On Sunday, divers with the Chaos Divers group were able to locate the 1984 Ford with Shepherd’s remains inside.

The 1984 Ford F-150 had some obvious characteristics

According to WBIR, Jeff Anthony Shepherd went missing back in 2018. On March 12, 2018, he was last seen in Scott County, Kentucky. Shepherd was described as a white male with brown hair, blue eyes and was between 5’5″ – 5’7″ tall. When he went missing, he was seen leaving a bar in Winfield, Tennessee.

Shepherd was known to be driving a beat-up 1984 Ford F-150 with a brown driver’s side door and a red passenger door. The original police report said the Ford F-150 was “battered” and painted in primer grey. The truck was also reported missing and was never seen again.

Missy’s Bar in Winfield, Tennessee, was a 20-30 minute drive from Shepherd’s home. It was suspected that he might have gone missing along the route, but police found no concrete evidence. A few other people had gone missing along the same road, but there was no way to know if the cases were related.

Chaos Divers started looking for the Ford F-150

A group of divers called Chaos Divers started cleaning waterways a few years back. Members of the group became certified in search and rescue missions, which has enabled Chaos Divers to assist in situations like this. The group has an active YouTube channel, where the update to this case was posted.

Chaos Divers was contacted by the family and asked to assist. The area was off Highway 27, near a rock quarry. Around the time Shepherd went missing, a few other incidents were on the same route. Apparently, a semi-truck went off the road and through the guardrail not long before. There are some news stories from that time that indicate a semi-truck damaged the guardrail, but it wasn’t immediately repaired. This left the area open to vehicles like the Ford F-150 slipping through.

Sometime after that, the guardrail was repaired in a way that wouldn’t allow a vehicle through. Due to this repair, it wasn’t suspected that the Ford F-150 might be in the nearby area.

The team at Chaos Divers explained that the area Shepherd went missing in is quite rural. The law enforcement officers have a large area to cover, which makes it harder to search efficiently. In addition to that, the technology used in such a search has come a long way since he went missing. Due to all of these factors, the Ford F-150 was located.

The family was contacted, and the Ford truck with the unusual paint job contained items that indicated it was the correct truck. WBIR confirmed that “unidentified remains were found inside the vehicle.” It seems that this cold case has been solved, but DNA testing will be done for official confirmation. The family of Jeff Anthony Shepherd has answers and will hopefully get closure from this discovery and the hard work of the divers.
