What upgrades can drivers expect?

With the release of this software update, Porsche is looking to add several new functions and improvements to the already impressive Porsche Taycan. From a performance standpoint, there are a few things changed that drivers will surely enjoy. 

Firstly, and maybe most importantly, this update will add approximately 31 miles of range to the battery. This range increase can come, in part, from the electric freewheel reducing the frictional drag loss. This added range will be a welcome addition for an EV that has already impressed during real-world testing.

Furthermore, there are a few upgrades that come to the actual powertrain. According to Porsche, in the drive modes ‘Normal’ and ‘Range,’ all-wheel drive models will benefit from the front electric motor being almost completely disconnected and will stop using power. Additionally, both axles will be free of any torque if you are coasting or at a stop. 

Another significant change is that the Porsche Taycan can now have better thermals. This software update helps the battery to handle temperatures with more ease. This battery change allows you to charge your electric vehicle much quicker during low temperatures. This change all helps not just to speed up charging but also gives the car more range.

Other upgrades that make this update so worth it

Aside from a bevy of upgrades that allow the Porsche Taycan to perform more confidently, there are upgrades to the infotainment and driver assistance systems. These updates will ensure that you and your passengers have a more enjoyable ride. 

One of the other changes from this new software update is that the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) and Porsche Connect receive some new updates. First, there is an updated start screen and new connectivity for the 2020 and 2021 models. With optimized voice control, an integrated Spotify app, and wireless Android Auto, there is more connectivity than ever! Finally, models equipped with a head-up display will enjoy optimized graphics.

The final round of updates is found within the driver assistance technologies and unlocking specific functions. The ParkAssist technology can now be used with more range and accurately identify available parking spaces. This update will benefit the 2020, 2021, and 2022 models. Finally, if you purchased a Porsche Taycan in 2020, 2021, or 2022 and did not have a specific function equipped, thanks to over-the-air updates, certain features can now become available.
