Britney Spears Was Sued for Putting a Fake Louis Vuitton Logo on a Pink Hummer for Her ‘Do Somethin’ Music Video
Britney Spears went through quite a few legal challenges over the past few years as she fought successfully to end her father’s conservatorship. However, those weren’t her first legal battles. For example, she got sued for putting a fake Louis Vuitton logo on a pink Hummer for a music video back in the day. Thankfully, that legal battle had a relatively harmless ending for Spears.
The pink Hummer in Britney Spears ‘Do Somethin’ video was courting a lawsuit
Few Britney Spears fans will ever forget her truly one-of-a-kind customized pink Hummer H2, which was featured in her “Do Somethin'” music video released back in the early 2000s. HotCars recalls how the Hummer, painted entirely in bright pink with shiny silver trim, even featured faux Louis Vuitton logos in the interior. Many wondered what Spears could have been thinking when she outfitted her ride in this way. Perhaps the Hummer should have earned a spot on our list of tackiest celebrity cars of all time.
In the trippy video, Spears is featured driving her pink Hummer through a clouded sky while rocking out with some of her girlfriends. While the image of a flying pink Hummer was certainly eye-catching, it also attracted the attention of the Louis Vuitton company itself–and not in a good way.
Britney Spears got sued for the fake Louis Vuitton logo
Louis Vuitton was unsurprisingly unamused by the phony company logos Britney Spears added to her pink Hummer. (Maybe she should have done like Rick Ross and installed some legitimate Louis Vuitton seats in the vehicle.)
Billboard has reported that the company was so determined to stop Spears’s use of the fake logos that they hauled her, along with Sony BMG and MTV Online, into court with a $300,000 lawsuit that alleged violation of counterfeiting laws.
Ultimately, Spears was found not guilty of the charges. However, Sony BMG and MTV Online weren’t so lucky. They were each fined 80,000 euros ($117,000) and ordered to stop broadcasting the music video. The ruling declared the video an “attack” on the company and its luxury image.
A look at the new GMC Hummer EV pickup and SUV
Hummers have come a long way since the days of that Britney Spears video, and now they’re taking an even greater leap forward with EV technology. GMC has recently announced the upcoming release of the GMC Hummer EV pickup and SUV and has been taking reservations for purchase.
Given the gas-guzzling for which Hummers were known in the past, it may be hard to imagine an EV version of these heavy-duty SUVs. Nevertheless, they offer some surprisingly impressive specs.
The pickup version of the EV Hummer offers up to 1,000 horsepower, while the SUV comes with up to 830 horsepower, giving you plenty of power for whatever your needs might be. Both models also offer up to 11,500 lb-ft of torque. Additionally, compared with traditional Hummers, the EV version stands out regarding energy efficiency. You can count on a range of up to 350 miles with the pickup and up to 300 miles with the SUV.
The Hummer EV’s interior and accessories are also definitely worthy of being featured in a Britney Spears video. High-def screens, an Infinity roof with modular sky panels, and massive 35-inch tires exemplify how these vehicles stand out as luxury rides. Few of us will ever have the status and name recognition of Britney Spears, but a Hummer EV will undoubtedly help you stand out in a crowd without breaking the bank on fuel costs.
