Bruce Springsteen Alludes to Jeep 80th Anniversary Models For Freedom
There was a slightly confusing Bruce Springsteen Jeep commercial during the Superbowl. It showed a CJ-5 and spoke about meeting in the middle of America. But it was about Jeep’s 80th anniversary, and you may want to consider the Jeep Wrangler 80th Anniversary trim.

First of all, what is “The Middle”? According to Detroit News, the middle could mean between red or blue, or literally the middle of the continental United States. The chapel in Lebanon, Kansas, that was filmed in the ad serves as this peaceful setting.
The commercial also featured glimpses of snow-covered roads, a 1980 Jeep CJ-5, and a 1965 Willys CJ-5. Perhaps the frozen landscape showed areas where travel can be difficult but not too tricky for a Jeep to traverse.
But with the “ReUnited States of America” flashing on the screen, it’s hard to ignore political undertones. However, Olivier Francois, Stallantis NV’s Global Cheif Marketing Officer, shared that the ad didn’t take a political stance.
Instead, this was a healing message to promote the authentic and American image of Jeep. Bruce Springsteen also said that “We need the middle. We just have to remember that the soil we stand on is common ground.”
How American is Jeep?
According to CJ Pony Parts, Jeep is owned by Chrysler. Chrysler merged with Fiat in 2014 to create the FCA. Jeeps are still mostly made in America. But Jeep does have 10 plants in six different countries and sells vehicles in over 140 countries. Most of the manufacturing plants are in the United States, Mexico, Brazil, Italy, China, and India.
Most of the international facilities build transmission and powertrain components, while the assembly occurs in the United States. The Renegade and Fiat 500X are assembled in Melfi, Italy, but the Jeep Wrangler, Cherokee, Compass, and Gladiator are assembled in the United States.
The first Jeep vehicles were manufactured by the Bantam Motor Car Company in 1940. The 1941 Jeep was the original military Willys MB Jeep that won the hearts of those in combat. Then the GP or General Purpose models gave the Jeep its name. GP is pronounced like Jeep.
Jeep was sold to Henry J. Kaiser in 1953. Then 4WD took a dominant stance in the future of the vehicles. In the 1960s, the Cherokee, Grand Cherokee, and Wagoneer were created. In 1976, on Jeep’s 35th birthday, the CJ-5 which became the Jeep Wrangler was born.
