We’ve all seen Honda’s latest attempt at the Civic Si by now. After much waiting, the Japanese brand has finally opened the books for orders on the 2022 Honda Civic Si. There’s only two “trim” levels to choose from, but there’s also a plethora of visual upgrades and changes you can use to personalize your Si. Here, we’ll go through them and decide which ones to get and which ones to tell Honda to keep.
The 2022 Honda Civic Si is a $30,000 bargain
First, we’ll start with those “trim” levels. Now, these aren’t really trim levels per say, hence the air quotes. You can either have a base 2022 Honda Civic Si, or option for the HPT Civic Si. In this instance, HPT stands for High Performance Tire. Evidently, that’s something most will want on their high performance Civic. It’s only $200 more than the standard Si’s $27,300 MSRP, and well worth it for a set of summer tires.
Those nice summer tires are also the only difference between the two. Despite us all heading into the cold winter months, we’d still recommend grabbing the HPT Civic Si, as its much cheaper than going out and having to get summer tires yourself. $200 is a steal for nice tires, after all, fitting the value proposition that is the new Si. Whlie those two trims are similar, once you get into the options, there’s much to choose from.
There’s a staggering amount of options for the new Si
But first, some more similarities. Both 2022 Honda Civic Si models get the same six paint options. We’d recommend “Platinum Pearl White,” a close approximation of the legendary Championship White from the Honda NSX Type R and the brand’s Formula 1 roots. Notably, both can also be optined with a different 18-inch wheel, but we’re partial to the included multi-spoke ones. You can also add an optional “HPT” package to both models for $1,112.
That package is purely visual, adding in black HPT emblems, and front, rear, and side underbody spoilers. However, you can pick and choose from those options later if you’re not a fan of one or two of the visual changes. There’s also packages that, at $398 and $285 respectively, add things like front bumper paint protection film, wheel locks, and all-season floor mats. Again, those can all be ordered separately on your 2022 Honda Civic Si. Finally, there’s a number of miscellaneous trim protectors that can be placed in the places you’re most likely to scratch for $51-$230.
What’s the best spec for the 2022 Civic Si?
As for how we’d spec our 2022 Honda Civic Si? We’d keep things under $30,000. The side spoilers add too much visual mass, and we’d skip the HPT badge, adding only the front and rear spoilers. Then, we’d also add in the “All Season II” pack with wheel locks, floor mats, and a trunk liner. Finally, we’d also go for the white paint. In total, our 2022 Honda Civic Si ran us $29,988 after a $1,015 destination fee. At under $30,000, any Civic Si is a real steal, no matter how you spec it.
