One of the less valuable byproducts of the information age is the avalanche of silly videos of drivers doing equally silly things. In a recent video, a Pittsburgh driver decided a firecracker and a Subaru sunroof were a smart mix. As you might imagine, they nearly burned the car to a crisp.

A Subaru driver decided that the perfect prank was to light a firecracker and try to launch it from their sunroof– and they almost burned their car

Ok, if you live long enough (and you’re interesting enough), you likely have some stories of ridiculous undertakings. Things that should have landed you in the hospital or worse. However, you hopefully haven’t done something as Darwin Award-prompting as lighting a firecracker and dropping it in a car. A car that you’re sitting in. Seriously. These kids did that.

You know that nothing good is going to happen when a young driver pulls out a firecracker on video. Well, as expected, they lit the cylindrical firework, and the driver proceeded to toss it through an open sunroof.

However, the driver missed the roof opening, bouncing the firecracker back into the car. The cabin fills with smoke, and the passenger immediately bails out of the stationary vehicle. They ran into an adjacent tree line and looked back just in time to see smoke billowing out of the vehicle as it rolled further into the intersection.

Luckily, the hilariously hopeless prank attempt didn’t end with the Subaru Crossover SUV engulfed in flames. Instead, the young driver and their passengers make it out safely. That, and Pittsburgh first responders were quick to ensure the car hadn’t burned. In all seriousness, the occupants of the car are lucky they weren’t injured.

Viewers can hear the driver say “Something happened.” Pretty sure that’s not going to fly when an insurance adjuster gets a glimpse at the video. Speaking of, you can check out the baffling stupidity in a drunkpeopledoingthings Instagram post below!
