Why Can’t You Buy a 2022 Ford Maverick Right Now?
If you are interested in purchasing Ford’s small truck, the 2022 Maverick, you may be out of luck right now. Currently, buying a new Ford Maverick feels like an impossible task, and a few reasons likely play into that. This compact pickup has been immensely popular, and demand quickly outstripped supply. Because of that, Ford has placed a pause on customer orders until August of this year. And, even finding this truck available at a dealership can feel like a difficult task.
Why won’t Ford sell you a 2022 Maverick?
It seems clear that Ford has hit a winning formula with its new small truck, so much so, that the manufacturer is having trouble keeping up with demand. From traditional truck buyers to those coming from non-truck segments, the Maverick has been one of the hottest commodities since it was released, and there doesn’t appear to be any sign of slowing.
In terms of customer orders, Ford has been forced to place a pause until August of 2022. And orders placed in August once the window opens will be for the 2023 model year. In fact, according to MotorTrend, some Maverick orders place already will be for 2023. This may be frustrating to some, who have been waiting for the Ford Maverick to finally be delivered.
Is the 2022 Ford Maverick a good truck?
If sales are any indication, the Maverick has been a success for Ford. It has a starting cost of around $20,000, comes with a standard hybrid engine, and has the utility of a pickup bed. It’s honestly a bit shocking that Ford is able to sell this compact truck as cheaply as it has been.
Of course, not every Maverick sold will be cheap. Adding the more powerful engine with 250 horsepower will bring a more expensive price tag, as will the available all-wheel drive system. Still, at the end of the day, Ford’s small truck is relatively affordable. Especially when the cost of a full-size truck only seems to be going up.
When can you buy a new Ford Maverick?
Currently, the best way to buy a Ford Maverick is likely by visiting a dealership and looking at the used market. In both cases, some of the value proposition of this truck may be ruined by markups. If you have patience, waiting until August to place an order with Ford may be the better option.
Even then, you may have to wait longer than you would like to take delivery of your truck. But to some, that wait may be worth it. The Ford Maverick marks the resurgence of compact trucks in the United States. It has the ability to go off-road when properly equipped and it has the efficiency of a hybrid engine.
The biggest problem the Maverick appears to have right now is getting into the hands of buyers. It looks like some buyers who currently have the 2022 Maverick on order feel in the dark because Ford has not been the best about providing updates. But, hopefully moving forward, Ford will sell you a new Maverick.
